House Democrats Turn Their Back on Progressives and Youth

Please do try to run the dem party on the progressive ticket.

You guys couldn't win with 1.4 billion corporate dollars what the hell are you going to do with 12 bucks and a bogo gift card from gen x?

The only thing that generation knows how to do is bitch, please do get in bed with them.

I have considered neoliberals to be complicit in the of the rise of maga. They have made it clear they would rather risk an oligarchy before they get anyone progressive near power. No shock that the laissez-faire capitalists arm of the Democratic party would behave this way.

I don't think Nancy's legacy will be what she thinks it will be.

Who are among the 'laissez-faire capitalists arm of the Democratic party'?

Name names.

Dems lost because they were far too moderate. Voters don't want moderation. They want change.
So stupid. Thoughts like this are why democrats lost. Face it the extreme overreaction to dei trans issues are why democrats lost.
It amazing how immigration wasn’t an issue until border governors shipped them north. The largest chunk of undecided voters thought the woke crowd was worse than trump.
Think about that.

To be fair I don't think the Republicans or libertarians in the US are laissez-faire to the definition either. It is a semantics thing much like the terms libertarian, classical-liberal, etc in the US. I did mean to put it in quotes but I had initially put "free-market" in there, and lost the quotations along the way. I also don't think they are free market, crony capitalists would be a better term. Anyway, I'm essentially talking about establishment Democrats, it would be much easier to list off who isn't in that group.

I'm not in a list making mood today, but I think I have you enough information to catch my drift.

The establishment on both sides are crony capitalists. Only laissez-faire folks I know of in Congress are Sen. Paul and Rep. Massie. Might be more, but I don't even know who they would be.

Marc Andreessen covers the mechanics of crony capitalism (and threat of it) well here:

So laughably wrong. Dems ran moderate campaigns in 2016 & 2024 and lost to an embarrassing candidate.

Maybe if the Dems nominate DeSantis against Vance in 2028 they'll get more than 6% of the "moderate" republican voters that are supposedly the key to winning elections.

Not rigging the nomination process like they did in 2016 & 2024 would be a good start.

Irrespective of that, you're still wrong:

NYT

June 30, 2021
Married men and veteran households were probably not the demographic groups that Democrats assumed would carry the party to victory over Donald Trump in the 2020 election.

But Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s apparent strength among traditionally moderate or even conservative constituencies, and especially men, is emerging as one of the hallmarks of his victory, according to new data from Pew Research.

...

The Pew data, released on Wednesday, is the latest and perhaps the last major tranche of high-quality data on voter preference and turnout in the 2020 election, bringing analysts close to a final, if still imperfect, account of the outcome.

The data suggests that the progressive vision of winning a presidential election simply by mobilizing strong support from Democratic constituencies simply did not materialize for Mr. Biden
. While many Democrats had hoped to overwhelm Mr. Trump with a surge in turnout among young and nonwhite voters, the new data confirms that neither candidate claimed a decisive advantage in the highest turnout election since 1900.

Instead, Mr. Trump enjoyed a turnout advantage fairly similar to his edge in 2016, when many Democrats blamed Hillary Clinton’s defeat on a failure to mobilize young and nonwhite voters. If anything, Mr. Trump enjoyed an even larger turnout edge while Mr. Biden lost ground among nearly every Democratic base constituency.
Only his gains among moderate to conservative voting groups allowed him to prevail.

Guess I'd argue the Dems lost in '24 more because they lost the messaging battle - republicans successfully painted DEI/woke as bad even tho i've seen very few be able to actually define what those are; trans-athletes as a major issue; the economy being in the gutter when it isn't, etc.

Moderate campaigns is one way of putting it. Another is having your head up your ass. The republicans are so bad yet the democrats can’t capitalize because they refuse to just be logical.
Pander to fridge groups, some of which wouldn’t vote for democrats. Any pro Islam group that voted for r’s is mind boggling, yet it happened.
Dei till I die doomed democrats.
We kick out the Al frankens of the world because they made someone feel bad, after the fact.
Dems are so afraid of offending black people that they offended a number of black people.
Dems screwed up immigration royally. I don’t care if you think it was a big issue the fact that many people do, even those here legally, tells you it was a problem. Yep they came to the table at the end and trump shut it down because he knew it was a winning issue but it was too late.
Dems run an unpopular woman of color because of dei. Hell Iowa did the same in the last election. You know what, run the best candidate that can win. Like it or not there are a lot of people that won’t vote for a person of color even worse a woman. You can’t do that because the people around Biden did not speak truth to power. Worse it makes it look like Harris was chosen by Biden’s indecision/hubris. Harris would never have been the nominee if she had to earn it, she was the definition of dei.
Like sports a good coach must play the people that help win the game and adapt the game plan. Dems don’t do that.

This is true but why????
No democrat will say anything about it. Much like finding a Republican with a backbone to speak against trump.
Where/who are the Democrat versions of Liz Cheney and Adam kinzinger?

AOC and her allies have based their political careers on poking the Democratic establishment. It should come as no surprise that establishment Democrats are pushing back.

She made a major mistake. The funny thing is how democrats can’t decide where to be. Some advise them to move to middle. I think they are already there. Others advise them to say eff it and move more left and actually try to push the agenda.

Republicans moved wacko right and win elections. The democrats need to do likewise. “You’re damn right we want socialized healthcare like the rest of the world AND HERE IS WHY!” Instead they try to pacify people who won’t vote for them anyway.

Dems need to figure out their messaging problem. For some reason, every time they tried last year, they kept falling back into lecture mode and Americans don't like that. Trump just kept saying things were bad and it's all Biden/Harris' fault. Much simpler to swallow.

Wacko right isn’t as wacko as you they/thems want to believe.

They need to internalize that they are trying to convince idiots. I get so tired of Democrat legislators saying “I trust the American people…” I sure as hell don’t.

It's just the KISS principle in action to me. Trump kept it simple, made all sorts of promises - and now he's been walking most of them back and MAGA is just rationalizing it.

The problem is democrats don’t do this on policy items of consequence, they do it on identity politics on little to no consequence.
Should have came up with a government option for health care in the affordable care act. Legalize weed and close the boarders.
