How about Yaya Keita, you StLou Hawks?

I watched one of his games online. He actually didn’t start the game I watched. I’m not sure if that’s the norm or not. His team has another big man who is a bit taller and getting decent college attention.

Keita looks pretty raw at this point. I didn’t see anything to indicate that he has advanced offensive skills in any area. Maybe it was a subpar game for him, but nothing jumped out.

Physically he reminded me of Tyler Cook at that age. However, skills wise he seems more like a shorter version of Gabe Olaseni when he arrived at Iowa. While he’s listed at 6-9, I’m not sure Keita is quite that tall. It’s a bit tough to tell from a video, but that’s just my guess.

To be perfectly blunt, I’m not sure he’s the kind of kid you take a commitment from at this point if you’re a program like Iowa. I think Keita has definite potential, but if I was a coach, I would want him to display a bit more in the skills department before taking a commitment from him.

Just my opinion, of course. If the staff thinks he’s the guy for them, I’ll trust their expertise.

I can't speak to his talent and how he may fit into the Iowa program but do really like his name. He's worth a scholarship on that basis alone! :)

Logan Duncomb, a Top 150 Rivals player with some really good offers from Cincinnati, OH is another center to keep an eye on. He grew up an IA fan as his dad is from Cedar Rapids and U of I grad. Still has family in Eastern Iowa. His HS coach has a good relationship with Fran too. Fran should be able to sell the development of Luka Garza and other big men in his tenure.

Is he a son of Alou Keita? (probably spelled his name wrong) If it is that first off makes me feel very old. I thought that Alou Keita had something against Iowa. Yeah skydog based on name alone we don't want him going to a rival anyways.

If he came to Iowa we'd have two athletes named Yahya! Different spelling than the football recruit.

Interesting project. The Rivals folks have him in the top 150 already. Everyone describes him about the same way. Raw but talented.

Like to set up a home and home with St. Louis anyway. I like to see us recruiting St. Louis.

This sounds very promising! I hope we get Logan and his Dad on campus for a visit.

This Duncomb kid is someone that looked really good and someone I thought we had or should have a really good shot at due to the relationships mentioned...but the Rivals article from last fall he never even mentions Iowa...Wisconsin was his first official visit...likes Indiana, Xavier, and Ohio St.

That's disappointing to hear. The Rivals article I read last summer was quite complimentary towards Iowa. But you know how that goes, a lot of commentary and reporting aligns with whatever school's reporter a recruit is speaking with at the time. Hopefully that is the case with the articles you read.

Thanks for the info.
