I don't see 70,000 in Kinnick for a wrestling match even if the weather is great. I know I will be there.
1. They will sell as many tickets as fans are willing to buy.Are they even planning on selling all 70,000 seats for the wrestling match? Can't imagine sitting in row 79 in the corner of the East Stands (or whatever) and trying to watch two guys wrestle at mid-field. Forget your binoculars...better get out your Hubble telescope.
That would be too gimmicky IMO. It's only $10 or $15 so shouldn't be that big of a deal.I am kind of surprised they aren't just letting people in for free since they want to break the attendance record. I know that devalues the season ticket holder but in this instance I think you just go for it.

2. I think they are only like $10 or $15 each
3. The wrestling will be shown on the big screens so technically, there shouldn't be a bad seat in the house. Even if you were on the other end.
IMO, it's not about being close necessarily, it is about the unbelievable experience of being involved in this day. Could be one of the best days in Iowa history
If...IF...they were to sell 70,000 tickets I'm guessing it would be moved to the 50. I'd be shocked by that. Would be awesome to get half that though.
If any of you have ever been to an NCAA Basketball Regional up in the Metrodome where Iowa played a time or two, it will be a similar configuration to that, except a wrestling mat instead of a basketball court in the end zone. IIRC, they erected some bleachers/stands up out to the 20-30 yard line or so, and sold around 23,000 tickets in that configuration as far as decent sight lines and such. I doubt Iowa will build those types of bleachers with a Football game a few hours later however. Some will be reserved, the rest GA I presume, the more the merrier. The mat will be in the South end zone. There is so much planning for the mat, I doubt they'll move it. Also, all the season ticket holders will be given seats in that end of the field, so they won't be moving the mat away from them.
I also think 70k is a dream, 40k would be great.
I bet people will have the opportunity to kind of scatter out if they don't want to sit in their designated seat, especially if it's high up in the stands or away from the mat on the east and west sides. Like someone mentioned, with the jumbotron, you can still get a good view of the dual.If any of you have ever been to an NCAA Basketball Regional up in the Metrodome where Iowa played a time or two, it will be a similar configuration to that, except a wrestling mat instead of a basketball court in the end zone. I think they are putting some bleachers on the field for students. Season ticket holders get to select their seats today. The price is $10 per ticket for non season ticket holders.I bet people will have the opportunity to kind of scatter out if they don't want to sit in their designated seat, especially if it's high up in the stands or away from the mat on the east and west sides. I suppose there is a certain limit to seating "close to the action" as the further north you get on the sideline bleachers, the further away from the mat you will be. I don't know exactly how many each section holds, but I would assume that 40,000 would probably work its way out near or past the 50 yd line.
But then that also depends on what kind of additional seating they'll be putting in, if any. Though like you said, they're not going to be putting any bleachers out on the playing field before the game.
I know one thing is for sure....I definitely would not want to be on the clean up crew after a wrestling meet and then a night game after a full day of tailgating at the same venue.
Why wouldn't they? There is a video board and it is more about setting the record than getting a great view. People are having trouble grasping that simple concept.I was under the impression the match will be in the south endzone and they are just selling tickets surrounding the south endzone. I dont know how far they would go but I do not think they would try and sell any all the way in the north endzone even if there was that much demand

I'm not saying I agree or not I just heard there were limited seats.
You are going to be way off if the weather cooperates and the football team keeps winning.I predict 20,000, if that, for the wrestling meet. Your diehard wrestling fans will be there, along with a few people curious what wrestling outdoors looks like. Otherwise people will likely stick to tailgating and watch the wrestling highlights later.

If you cant pay $10 then maybe you shouldn't go.I am kind of surprised they aren't just letting people in for free since they want to break the attendance record. I know that devalues the season ticket holder but in this instance I think you just go for it.

There is a limit of 25k reserved. I haven't heard of a limit to the general admission.

That is correct got mine this am.I think they are putting some bleachers on the field for students. Season ticket holders get to select their seats today. The price is $10 per ticket for non season ticket holders.
I've said before I think 25k is the floor, and would still be impressive. If everything comes together perfectly 40k will be awesome.
