Their games don't compliment eachother as well as the backups.
Plus Freeman is probably the best player on the team so that helps the 2nd unit tremendously.
I’m more impressed with them on defense. It’s like they were all taught something other than Fran’s defense. They are cohesive on the defensive end.
Freeman is very good for a freshman in the post. Against taller guys bigger guys and more athletic guys. He’s been a pleasant surprise. Dembele plays hard, like you’d expect a d1 player to but we never seemingly get. Harding is much quicker/craftier than I would have thought.
I’ll take the heat but dembele should get near starter minutes. Freeman and Harding are starters.

Yep. He needs to come off the bench. Krikke, Freeman, Sandfort, Perkins, Bowen/Harding
Maybe not starting but id like to see that lineup play together on the games like perkins played today
Freeman vs Krikke on defense is the biggest difference.
He's just bigger and more athletic.
I'd like to see Harding, Bowen, Dix, Freeman, Dembele.
Yes, Fran loves him some 6-9 undersized portal player that can't jump or defend the post, but redshirts a 7-0 mobile center. Krikke does work hard, but the lack of athleticism is very apparent.

Not saying he should be playing. But if Riley had went to uni we would be singing his praises.
The Hutson kid that transferred to uni from Illinois Chicago would have been as good or better pick up than Krikke
You're right Fran should never be criticized for his actions. Other then the freshmen, this team was miserably put together starting with PMac.
The problem with Fran, is over the 14 years, he recruits to the majority of white season ticket holders that expect him to lock down the majority of white high school basketball players in Iowa.
That is just not a Fran problem as every Iowa coach not named George Raveling that has adhered to this recruiting rule.
It's no coincidence that the last time Iowa played a game to get into the final four was 36 years ago and the last time Iowa got the the sweet 16, was 24 years ago which in my opinion was a fluke, kudos to Dr. Tom Davis on his last year at Iowa.
Hey, maybe Fran should come out and tell everyone that this is his last year, nah, even that couldn't elevate this team to do the impossible.
Krikke, Pmac, Sandfort might be the worst defensive frontline in Div1 B-ball. I see the two bigs for Oklahoma were 11-14 from field. This is after the Creighton game in which their two centers ate Iowa up.
I don't think its been the Iowa kids that have been problem. Fran hasn't complemented the Iowa kids with more athletic kids from out of state or asked the players he does get to play defense. If you are a white kid that likes to run and shoot and play fast break B-ball and not worry about defense, Fran's your guy
That has also been a problem with Fran, he assembles 5 starters plays them heavy minutes, of which maybe 2 or 3 are legit Big Ten players but doesn't fully fill out the roster with players that can elevate Iowa beyond the couple of starters.
That been more evident in the last few years with Luka, both Murray's, Bohannan, and Wieskamp, but also with Fran's other teams. He's never been a coach to tip the apple cart.
I don’t respond like this very often but you have your head up your ass if you believe the majority of white season ticket holders want white players from Iowa on the team over better black players from Iowa or around the country . I call total bullshit.Take that crap somewhere else. Iowa basketball fans and ticket holders want the best and most exciting team they can get regardless of race and where they are from. The best teams Iowa has had were full of black players and the field house and Carver rocked. The recruiting of Frans mediocre teams is on Fran not the Fan Base. Sick of watching Dix pass up open looks. Got some CJ Fredrick in him where he passes up an open look, thus stalling the offense.
