I'm assuming the most proper way to pronounce it is like how you say Wile E Coyote but I've now heard the announcers pronounce it both ways. Also, on twitter I see people saying "GoYotes" which I'm guessing is not pronounced with a long e.
Yes they are crazy motherf***ers.Thanks. I did some googling on the topic and my conclusion from my 5 minutes of research is that in most of the country people use the three syllable pronunciation like in Wile E Coyote. But in more rural areas it's more common to hear the two syllable kai-yote (rhymes with coat). And as the earlier post mentions, the University of South Dakota definitely uses that second form of pronunciation. I even found an academic paper investigating why that is. The paper also references NDSU which pronounces bison as if there was a z in there for whatever reason. Those crazy Dakota schools.

Missouri. Missoura or Missouree?
I always thought pronouncing the "e" at the end was something city slickers do, like accenting the second syllable of "rodeo."I'm assuming the most proper way to pronounce it is like how you say Wile E Coyote but I've now heard the announcers pronounce it both ways. Also, on twitter I see people saying "GoYotes" which I'm guessing is not pronounced with a long e.
