Any solution involves encouraging companies like Deere to retain their domestic manufacturing capacity...
LOL - you are a real putz.Don't know,.. but it's an option, or ultimately a threat.
Manufacturing was slowing in 2019 and a recession was approaching. The pandemic made it happen much faster.
Trump is claiming that this tariff will help farmers. If he would have said it was to protect American workers then he might have a case, but placing an extremely high tariff on parts and equipment farmers rely on will not help farmers. JD will pass their increase in cost on to the consumer, the American farmer. So an American icon company is going to layoff thousands of American workers to take advantage of cheaper Mexican labor….and the democrats on here are like “what evs “.
Excellent points. The first solution should be something that doesn't hurt us more than it hurts them.
Remember you can't just enact a John Deere tax, you can only in general tax farm equipment manufactured outside the US. So is there a domestic competitor to John Deere that is large enough to make up for Deere's reduced sales in the US.
The third thing is if Thunderlips71 is to be believed which it sounds right because we do have a free trade agreement with Canada and Mexico and most free trade agreements are specifically an agreement not to implement tariffs. And it should be noted that the Trump administration itself negotiated the current free trade agreement.
It was slowing like it was everywhere else. As usual, you don't know what you're talking about.Manufacturing in the Midwest was doing quite well up until the pandemic hit...
United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA)The first solution should be something that doesn't hurt us more than it hurts them.

Don't bet on it. Farmers are pretty brand loyal. The American farmer won't pay 200% more for the Deere label,.. Deere will lose domestic market.
But, they were hauling a load of grain out of Storm Lake and they saw a brown person, and every day they send their kids off to school praying they don't come back forced to be trans. They don't have a choice. Many of them are so blinded by stupid cultural issues they will literally vote against their financial interests.
Hence why I laugh.
Which brands are 100 percent American made? The American farmer won't pay 200% more for the Deere label,.. Deere will lose domestic market.
So, it's almost like you are saying Trump just pulled something out of his ass as he free formed a speech because he doesn't understand complex issues, and doesn't really have the concept of plans and policies? The first solution should be something that doesn't hurt us more than it hurts them.

Do you think Trump will be able to place a 200% tariff on Deere alone?Nothing is 100% made anywhere anymore,.. Straw man question.
So, which brands will US farmers buy? Do you think a 200 punitive tariff on one company will be enforced? Certainly a tariff of that nature would have to apply to all farm implement manufacturers.Nothing is 100% made anywhere anymore,.. Straw man question.
Tariff or no, if they leave, JD will be done on land.
So, which brands will US farmers buy?
No, no, no. You don’t understand tariffs. Mexico will pay for these. It’s just billions of dollars for the US government! Consumer and farmers aren’t hurt at all. Most of the farmers here are Trumpist.
I will laugh if they all can no longer afford the machines they need for their business because of their decision to join a cult.
So tell me how a farmer purchases non-Deere parts for their Deere equipment?Consumers tend to base their purchases on cost and quality,.. farmers will do the same.
Which is why everyone should be terrified that the US President wants to pick winners and losers, even if it means kneecapping a Fortune 100 global company that helped build this country like Deere. The American farmer won't pay 200% more for the Deere label,.. Deere will lose domestic market.
So tell me how a farmer purchases non-Deere parts for their Deere equipment?
Your ignorance covers many topics.
If you use non-OEM parts what does that do to the warranty? You can already purchase numerous non-OEM parts for current Deere models...
Grow up, stop being so insulting, and perhaps I'll continue to converse with you,.. If not there are numerous others here who are far less demanding in conversational maintenance than yourself.
Sure, sure. Which brands manufacture all of their equipment sold on the US market inside the US?Consumers tend to base their purchases on cost and quality,.. farmers will do the same.
And where are those made? SMFHYou can already purchase numerous non-OEM parts for current Deere models...

To be fair to Rifler, he's pretty old. He thinks farmers park their tractor under a shade tree and slap new parts in that they bought at the local hardware store. And where are those made? SMFH
Conversational maintenance? LOL - you can't maintain a conversation past a simple question or two. You're very feeble.
That's why I used the term "feeble".To be fair to Rifler, he's pretty old. He thinks farmers park their tractor under a shade tree and slap new parts in that they bought at the local hardware store.

During Trump’s term more than 200,000 domestic manufacturing jobs were lost. During Biden’s term we’ve added back 775,000 manufacturing jobs. Looks like the democrats know what they’re doing, but nice try at deflecting.
I'm not a Trump fan but don't be stupid.
100% has to do with covid.
No matter who the president is you’re always going to be a loser. Who never did anything productive for the country.Which is why everyone should be terrified that the US President wants to pick winners and losers, even if it means kneecapping a Fortune 100 global company that helped build this country like Deere.
Put it in the giant pile of evidence indicating he is unfit for office.
They will need to rename the Case IH Green White and Red zone.Case IH has had enough, moving to Mexico
A year after workers won wage increases through a lengthy strike, the corporate owners of a 180-year-old farm equipment manufacturer in Racine County are laying off staff and shifting work to Mexico.
We have to find creative ways to offset the higher cost of US labor.
