He's a way different player than White, so I'd rather not hear comparisons there.

He's playing the way everyone always hoped he'd play and it's really fun to watch. I don't think he's close to done in amazing us.

Question: who's he compare to, as far as past Hawkeyes go? I can't think of anyone.

He's so well rounded skill-wise. He's still a little slight and doesn't possess the physicality you'd like. But he does everything else so well. He's projecting a killer instinct, also.

Good enough to be in the Top 10 for the Wooden Award, at midseason.

Good enough to have his team, in the Top 10 of College Basketball

There really is no one to compare him too. We've never had anyone like him that could score, rebound, pass and block shots.

He's also not forced to carry the team like Haluska or Gatens were.

His skill set is more like Bowen or Bullard.

The only area he has to improve in my opinion is down on the block for the next level. In the NBA, you will have a 6'6" small forward guarding him to stop the three and his drive game...he'll have to be able to score down low in those scenarios. Right now, I'm not sure of another prospect out of Iowa, that has a better upside, since John Johnson to be honest...maybe Roy Marble, but Marble didn't have this kind of range.

Put it this way. I loved Erek Hanson for his ability to change a game with his length and ability to run the floor and block shots. Jarrod is better.

Loved Kingsbury's ability to shoot from anywhere with confidence. He didn't have Jarrod's common sense as to what is a rhythm shot in the offense.

He's about team, sometimes to a fault, as others look for him to be a leader. He's not a classic leader. He's a good passer.

Defenses simply have to account for him. And still, they can't.

His handles are good. Not great, but good. He's still working on driving and finishing with more consistency.

He's an above average rebounder for his stature and doesn't turn it much.

I wished he had come to iowa right after hs so we could have had him 4 years (maybe). Just think how good he would be with another year of college under his belt. He could honestly be the second coming of Dirk Nowitzki. Uthoff has serious game.

Just think if he would have been option #1 last year and AW cleaned up.

He is a mismatch for pretty much any team we can face, on both ends. Going to be a fun year.

The single question I had about Jarrod this year was whether or not he would consistently show up for every game. So far, he has scored in double digits every contest. I would still like to see him average at least 17-18 FG attempts a game and up his RB average to at least 8/game. I really don't think those goals are beyond him.

For someone looking for a comparison, perhaps Don Nelson. Similar in that the have well rounded all around games including a sweet shot. But Don was a two time all american that averaged over 20 and 10 for his career without a three point line. So Jarrod needs to be in the national player of the year discussion to come close.

For those wishing he had come to Iowa out of high school, he'd already have graduated because there was no way we could have redshirted him back then.

He has a nearly complete game. Perhaps the best we've seen in an Iowa uniform in the past two decades. I think his only weakness, and it is something that has improved recently, is he needs that killer instinct. Aaron White played with fire and passion for his entire career. Just imagine if JU had that same mentality, that is finally starting to grow, for the past three years.

To me he has gained that killer instinct, the three from half court against msu is a good example. He's been dominating games lately. Boys I think we have our first nba star from iowa in a long time. His game is a thing of beauty.

The only question I had was would he understand he's the best player on the team and have the confidence to take over games instead of being too much of a team player. It's great he gets his teammates involved (I mean that seriously) but the best teams have guys that can realize when their team need them to take over and they do. That's what I was hoping Jarrod would realize.
