How great is the Alerts Feature?

Likes and the notification of quoted posts make board navigation so much better. It is nice not having to wade through a 4 page thread to see if somebody responded to you.
You are correct, and I'll quote you just so you know I think so. Now if we could teach some of the posters here how to use the quote function, that would be perfect. Then I could be really narcissistic and only read posts about me.

Are you that clingy and needy that you need instant gratification because 'Ol Lucas responded to you? ;)

Sometimes it doesn't seem to work. But when it does, it's excellent. Makes posting here much more like having a conversation with friends. You can ignore the idiots and get notified when the good guys have commented on a topic you are interested in.

WWJD, Nat, and other high production posters. What are the most alerts you have ever had when you came back to the site? I picture you guys having like 40 alerts if you are gone for an hour.

It's amazing for people who aren't here very frequently. I come back from a 2-week break and get to see how much Phantom hated me while I was away. It used to be that those hateful words were lost forever.

For someone who's been gone until recently since whenever the board got locked down, is he still upset about the Cubs not making any trade deadline or free agent 'splashes' a couple years back?

I'm not a high volume poster, but both times I posted a few SABs on the football forum I had 20+ alerts in a couple of hours. That's a good thread if you're whoring for likes.

I think it extends the life of threads that in the past would have been lost and forgotten. There are some quality threads that get hammered off the front page by all the narcissistic political, barber shop mumbo jumbo.

I stopped doing SAB's because I feel like there are quite a few today that I should get royalties for. If you go back and look at some of the original work, most the ones today are just re-treads.

I think he's avoided talking about any of his previous Cubs gripes because he realizes how wrong he was. I kinda forgot how hard he was, consistently, on Theo and crew. Wasn't he like in love with getting Cliff Lee??

I used to get tons until I adjusted the settings. There is a setting where you get an alert every time the thread gets a post. I turned that off. I just keep the alerts for when I'm loved.

I really have on idea how to string together two posts into a quote (I haven't spent any time trying to find out how nor will I) so if you know how...spill it.

This feels like one of those threads where a ton of likes get handed out. I'm going to just get my post added to the thread before they're all gone.

Instead of reply, hit the quote button next to it; do this for all the quotes you want to use. Then down in the text box for a new post hit 'insert quotes'. You can select the order and then input them. Then it takes you back to the text box to type whatever you want.
