How long before the MAGA honeymoon ends?

Not sure how long it lasts. Time will tell. But the left had better pray that that his policies don't work, because if they do, they better look to a much more moderate candidate in 2028. I have watched the Dems tell everyone how great they have it, and lost an election because they didn't listen to people when they said they didn't have it good. If things get better to a least %50 of what Trump is promising, 2026 or 2028 looks bad for Dems.

I don't disagree with any of this actually. I bet we have different odds on whether big orange can pull it off.

Not sure either, but if he does..... Dems are going to rethink their platform. Might want to come back to the blue color.

I sincerely hope his policies work, as I’m 10 years from retirement and want my children and grandchildren to prosper. My concern is isolationism—we are part of a global economy, and cutting ourselves off from our allies could have negative consequences. I support securing our border (always have), but I’m unsure about his methods (time will tell).

I also believe in America’s diversity and the strength it brings. We are a melting pot, and while I hold my Christian values, I don’t want them forced on others, just as I don’t want other values imposed on me. It’s about respecting freedom and finding common ground for everyone’s benefit. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Trump has weaponized Christianity--Christ Himself never did that.

They need to rethink their platform regardless. I'll be honest, I don't fully understand the average working man's plight in America. I don't live it. But I know they're the secret to winning elections. The Dems need to get them back and the shift they've made the last few years is not the way. I don't believe the R's have a clue to solve it either but they've sold them a bill of goods that they can. If they get it done, you're right that it will be tough sledding for Dems. And if they can't - the populace will shift. I'll 100% guarantee it.

Edit to add: James Carville was right.

You must be up to 100,000 words this morning, Busy Bee! 🤡

All of you people that think MAGA will turn against trump are just fooling yourself. They will never turn against him because they aren't really worried about the price of something or bettering their lives, it's about blaming others and anger. The worse it gets for MAGA the more angry they get and the more they're locked into the MAGA world. That's how cults work. Have you ever seen a cult where the people actually have a good life? No, the leader actually makes their lives worse so they continue to push away outsiders. When the leader decides what's right and wrong then there is no reality. We will see if this country ever comes out of this because trump may be bad, but I can guarantee that the next trump will be even worse.

I gave you a like despite the fact I differ about being unsure of his methods.

As long time student of economics and with thirty years doing business internationally I am unfortunately very certain his tariff policies will hurt the economy…potentially in a very bad way. The only hope I have is that the 1-2 serious minds in his admin will be able to avert the worst of Trump’s impulses. That is not much to go on, but it’s something.

Now if I, and virtually every economic scholar out there are wrong? I will be happy that America has prospered. Unfortunately this is a low probability.

Solid post, my friend.

Rightfully so due to the election results, the numpties among us are celebrating with glee as the Cheeto in Chief took office yesterday. The circle jerk is in full affect as they get to soak up the bad dance moves, “heart felt” salutes, and EO’s ridding the world of our most serious problems. Making America Great Again one musk or zuck or bezos at a time.

The question is, how long before America tires of so much #winning and the love affair is over? If historical precedent is to be referenced, it took 2 years for America to tire of Trump’s antics before voters sent the 2018 Blue Wave in to rid Washington of some of it’s trash. Two years later, the majority was so tired of the steaming pile of shitshow that was Twitter based governance that the “worst president in history” had to be voted in so a bunch of people could pretend they didn’t vote for Trump in the first place.

So, how long before America rejects the new virus?
Will you cry like a bitch every day on here?

Sadly, that does appear to be the mood on here. Makes me concerned there will never be common ground.
Ya buddy, just look at the shit your team has posted the last 48 hours. Why? Trump is President and that's not changing. You're doing it to divide....but keep going since it worked so well last November!

I'm not sure what it is with you, but I've stated time and time again I don't subscribe to team politics. While I'm not required to register a specific party here in Texas, I would identify as an Independent if such a requirement existed.

I've made no attempt to hide my voting record:

1992 - George H.W. Bush (Republican)
1996 - Ross Perot (Independent)
2000 - George W. Bush (Republican)
2004 - George W. Bush (Republican)
2008 - John McCain (Republican)
2012 - Mitt Romney (Republican)
2016 - Gary Johnson (Libertarian)
2020 - Abstained
2024 - Chase Oliver (Libertarian)

You're doing it to divide
What exactly did I post that is divisive? IMO, you ostracize people with your bully tactics, staving off any chance at reasonable dialog. You've been arguing with people non-stop for weeks.
