We all Know King is looking like a first round draft pick read online first round 21st pick the cowboys. Who else gets drafted? Beathard, croston vandberg, kittle, Johnston? Does Jewell leave early and where do you guys project any of these guys?

I'd expect the O/U would be 5 or 5.5. King, Johnson, Beathard, Kittle, Croston, Jewell have a decent shot.

Please add to the list if I'm overlooking anyone.

Vandegerg is like Hinkle. They both have the talent, but I doubt he will get drafted unless he has huge numbers and runs a 4.4 40.

Beathard, Johnson and Jewell will all be drafted in the first 4 rounds.

This thread is designed for January/Feb when there is nothing else to talk about. But hurrah for you for being the first to post the subject, albeit in Sept.

King, Johnson, Kittle and Beathard with Croston having an outside shot and Mabin will be a rookie free agent in an NFL Camp as will Vandeberg. So basically all the senior starters except for McCarron will be in NFL camps next year. Those first four are going to be a big four to lose but hopefully with everything Iowa has coming back they don't drop off too much. The running game should be fine but Johnson's spot is a concern. And the biggest question is always QB.

Vandeberg is better than Hinkel at route running, has better speed and quickness, and has better hands. I would not be surprised to find out that he runs a sub-4.5 40. He gets open against everyone and makes incredible tight-window catches. He is one of the best WRs during Ferentz's tenure. I'd say he's much more like Johnson-Koulianos than Hinkel, but I think he's faster than DJK.

His 3 biggest catches last Saturday he had #1 of Iowa State right in his hip pocket. They were just perfectly thrown balls and great catches. So I agree with most of what you said except he gets open against everyone. That's not accurate.

The more I think about this, I think you're correct. Vandeberg does run a better route and is a little more athletic. They both have great hands.

Vandeberg could put on a few more pounds for the NFL.

Josey did not redshirt, correct? Because of that he is a young junior and I would expect him to come back. Similar to the decision King made.

If Daniels stays healthy yes 6-7th round.. Big back that is pretty quick on his feet. Health is the only major concern.

Okay, well, he gets open enough for CJ to get him the ball and he catches everything thrown within his wingspan. He had no dropped passes last year which is incredible given how many times he was targeted--then he hilariously dropped the easiest pass ever thrown to him in the third quarter. So, yeah, he's already having a worse season than last year. :p

EDIT: You make a great point about the corner being in his hip pocket on those three throws, but it also highlights how great Vandeberg's body control is. He does a great job of positioning himself in relation to defenders.

Yeah, Dallas sat out a year before his redshirt year. Had he played football his first year he would have been a redshirt senior in 2002. I know his dad was having a really rough time while Dallas was in college, so I believe that's the reason he went to the NFL a year early. Doug was an awesome guy!

Sash left a year early if I remember correctly, too.
