How TF does Wisconsin do it every fucking year?

Which also makes you one of the many nouveau riche Wisconsin fans that only know the last 25 years and need a review of the 25 years prior in both revenue sports. It's also why there is such a lack of respect for other teams and fans from your side.

25? Nah... 20 at most. Granted, they’re 20 consistently good years but dude... that program went 47 years between tourney appearances. They were a drunken doormat program for decades, now they’re a drunken basketball as actuarial science program.

They are a system program with a style that minimizes mistakes (including fouls) above all else, takes advantage of the other teams mistakes, gets a small lead and then bleeds you out. It’s consistent and It wins.

Not much more to say than that.

Teams from programs like that seldom have the kind of games that where you just torch the tape and forget about it. They only lose to the very best teams and almost never mail in a stinker. That adds up to a lot of wins over the years.

I hate them but they win.

I underestimated Gard. He’s done a really great job this year.

Then again....Wisconsin has benefited from playing 3 of the bottom 4 teams twice each. 7 of their conference games were against the bottom 4. That helps.

This is true. But then again we are 4-3 against the bottom 5 so we haven't really helped ourselves in that regard.

Indeed. They win the games they should.

Minimizing risk is proven. It is the stuff of success. From multinational corporations, to one man operations, the top performers are masters at minimizing risk. Wisconsin basketball is just one more example.

Bo was one of the first coaches to use efficiency analytics. Value the basketball, get to the line, and play defense, win a bunch of games.

The answer to the original question is simple: to bring people together, uniting behind a common cause of hatred.

Then you obviously don't remember the mid 60's to mid 90's era when Bucky sucked big time and were one of the doormats of the Big Ten.
Oh I remember! We sucked balls, there is no denial.:) Iowa was excellent. I always pulled for them because they had lots of Norwegians too.

Wisconsin didn't lose to a crap team like Nebraska on the road and a not so good Purdue team at home.

Like them or not, they have a good coaching staff that sticks to their objectives. They recruit accordingly.
Every year Wisconsin plays great defense, rebounds well, and limits TOs....

these are 3 things Iowa teams don’t do well...

there should be no surprise why Wisconsin wins a lot...

Congrats, hang your banner. Weakest #1seed in history of the BTT. I’ll be watching Iowa on Saturday. While your ball grabbing, boring ass basketball team will be exposed in both tournaments and be 1 and done.

The thing about Wisconsin is that they weren't a good team in November and December or really even in January.

Somehow they improved even after losing a starter in Kobe King. Addition by subtraction?

Yep, seems that had a lot to do with it.

Of course, Pissconsin tends to get stronger as the season progresses. And, as others have pointed out, Pissconsin also defends and rebounds.

Yeah, the B1G Ten was so strong this year that they were bad. Pissconsin barely snuck into the Top 25 before beating an undisciplined Hoosier team.

Had Iowa not lost to Indiana, Nebraska on the road, and Purdue at home, this is a much different conversation.

Maryland or MSU is big ten champion. Not Wisconsin. Odd man out of a three team tie for a title is a joke.

Wow. That’s jumping through a lot of hoops.

Had we not lost late leads to Illinois or Iowa we’d be outright champs. Anybody can play the what if game. Doesn’t mean a damn thing.

Lol. Just have to see about that.

In one breathe you say Wisconsin beat an undisciplined Indiana team and in the next breathe you say if Iowa hadn’t LOST to that same undisciplined team that this would be a different story? I’m not quite understanding that logic.

Wisconsin got it done. They were down late in that game and got it done on the road. It’s ok to dislike them but respect that accomplishment. Wisconsin could play the what-if game about their losses to Iowa and Illinois. Both games they were in control and lost at the end.

Your record is your record.

That's exactly what I'm saying. Pissconsin won the games they were supposed to. Iowa did not.

The big ten rewards teams that play clutch and grab defense more than any other conference.

It starts at the top with Izzo, they let his teams do it and it sets the tone for the rest of the rest of the conference.

It usually works out to the conference's detriment once they get to the tournament.

I'm all for laughing at the way Wisconsin plays basketball, it's torture to watch.

But your "had Iowa not lost to..." comment is lame. What should've happened happened. You sound like a golfer who shot 85 and says "but if I made those 6 putts it would've been a 79."

I'm saying Iowa has no one to blame but themselves.

What is Iowa's style and why don't the refs allow us to play it?

I'm guessing he's referring to the whole restricting freedom of movement the NCAA was supposedly emphasizing a while back. Bitchagain State and Pissconsin make a living grabbing and mugging around the perimeter. If that ever actually got enforced, both would be screwed.

This is the simple fact of CBB.
If you can get the officials to call the game that fits your teams style of play you stand a very good chance of winning.
About 25% of teams are built around playing the game by the rules, 25% on street ball and the rest fall in the middle.
All depends on the make up of the team.
I bust of the officials all the time but I find it beyond defensible the vast difference in how the game is called even during the course of one half of play.
Simply put, they are now expected to put FAR too much personal conjecture into the game instead of simply calling the plays where one player gains an advantage that is specifically called out in the rules as a foul.

MSU is a regular in the Final Four. Wisconsin has been to TEN Sweet Sixteen’s since 2000. I would argue that getting out of the Big 10 actually benefits them in the tournament.

The only argument against the Big 10 in the NCAA’s is they haven’t won a title since 2000.

Wisconsin would have been ranked earlier had they not had a poor non-conference showing.
