Should be at least the rest of the season….not just regular season. Now Wisconsin needs to suspend Gard for at least 2 games as well as some others.

No. I would have given a thumbs up if he was fired.
Gard should get 1 game. Players who were throwing punches should get 1-2 games but Howard should be gone but im not surprised.
A rival coach is in your face running his mouth and gesturing with his hands and other coach only put his hand out on the coach's arm should not be suspended IMHO.

Definitely suspend (or whatever else is warranted) the players as well.
1st time - Howard yells "I'm going to kill you!" at Mark Turgeon after a game, angrily threatening him while being restrained.
2nd time - Howard grabs Greg Gard by the shirt and threatens him for touching his arm in the handshake line. Then he forces his way through several players and coaches to smack a WI assistant coach in the head, starting a brawl.
3rd time? - maybe he brings a knife? Seriously injures an opposing coach?
He surprised me by this outburst because he was totally out of control. He needs to be in a zero-tolerance situation. He could really hurt someone.

Ideally, he would get pissed off and quit in a rage. He'd be radioactive, as he should be.
IMO he should be fired. He also threatened to kill Turgeon last year as well. The guy is a thug and bully. How would you like to coach against him? He is toxic. JMO

Very possible. Part of it, is what's his motivation going forward? What gets him going in the morning? It isn't money, he's good there. Winning certainly feels good, but my guess is he can find another avenue for that rush without dealing with all of the bs that coaching in the Big Ten brings. And he acts like it. He doesn't "need" this job.
What I saw was Howard trying to walk past Gard…. And Gard went hand on arm and held or pushed back to stop him so he could say something to Howard…..Hand on in that instance is clearly wrong and out of line. Howard then took things to another level and should therefore get more serious sanctions.
Race and gender is a big thing now days.
Hopefully more suspensions are coming.

I was thinking about that. I am wondering if he isn't into gambling? Getting the right point spread could be what compelled him to be pressing when up or down double-digits with <30 seconds to play. Losing his shit like he has is very suspect. That type of anger for something he has had his own team do very recently seems way over the top.
Nevertheless, RU is taking no chances. They have brought in these experts to prepare for Davison.

I'm crossing my fingers they meet again in the BTT. Michigan as the 6 seed and Wisconsin as the 3 seed or whatever other combination.
I watched "Big Ten and Beyond" last night, and Mike DeCourcy made it quite clear that Howard was totally in the wrong and accountable. He also said that Howard became pissed (not his words) at the fact that Gard used the timeout, which was completely within coaching guidelines. Not sure if anything will be levied against Gard, but that has been debated at length. We'll have to wait and see on that one. So yeah, I agree, this must stop. As aggravated as Howard was, had they had both kept moving, then maybe the outcome would have been different.

Gard should have been suspended at least 1 game for his grabbing and stopping Howard, who likely would have sniped verbally at him but was going to walk on by. Instead, only incurs a $10K fine.
Don't know the name of Wisconsin's #0, but if its Neath, just a 1-game suspension is a joke of a 'punishment' in his role in all that. He started swinging hard and connecting, and that's what sparked the players' part of the brawl.

Fran gets 2 games for calling Ref name.
Howard gets 5 games for assault , inciting violent melee, in his second offense.
does that seem equitable?
He should be made to donate the rest of his salary for the year to charities, under some anti-violence non-profit group.
And pay a large fine to the league.

B1G will be a laughing stock if stick with Michigan AD's punishment of only 5 games, not with this being Howard's 2nd offense, aka Strike 2.

I was thinking it should have been 2 games. But considering that it was the coaches who started it the players were put in bad positions of defending their coaches. So I'm ok with 1 game.
Both Neath and Diabate needed to be assessed a few games worth of suspension.
Both threw multiple punches, and I know for sure Neath connected on two swings. He being the original instigator of the players brawling during the melee.

every team will now roster a “puncher“ on the bench to enforce with hard fouls and punching people out.

Isn't this something? Two grown men, two coaches at major schools, role models (and I say that loosely), and teachers, and neither one would just walk away. They could have. Fran has done it.
Too easy on the punishment, he should be gone from college basketball, totally out of bounds and can’t be tolerated by any coach!!

Been a couple times - at least - that Fran has directed the team off the floor, instead of going through the HS line, knowing there'd be stuff going on if went through with it. And honestly, my respect for him has risen in those situations. Why put yourself, your team and your coaches in positions where most likely only bad things will happen? Smart move in a very contentious environment like those times, as well as yesterday's UM@UW game, is to just walk away and pizz & moan in the postgame pressers.
That's for Michigan to decide. If he learns from the mistake and this never happens again then problem solved. I do fear his temper will resurface, let's just hope it doesn't result in someone getting smacked.
