Hunter Biden's associate Eric Schwerin who emailed then-VP Joe Biden's pseudonym accounts about Ukraine business is hauled in for Republican questioning

  • 'Robin Ware,' 'Robert L. Peters' and 'JRB ware' were three pseudonyms used on emails that were about both official and family business
  • The bulk of Schwerin's communications with Joe Biden's pseudonym accounts occurred between 2010 and 2019
  • Republicans say at least 54 emails were just between Joe Biden and Schwerin
Hunter Biden's business associate Eric Schwerin is facing questions about then-Vice President Joe Biden's use of pseudonyms to discuss activities related to Ukraine.

Joe Biden used various private email addresses from which he would sometimes send, receive and forward government correspondence according to emails found on Hunter Biden's now-infamous laptop.

'Robin Ware,' 'Robert L. Peters' and 'JRB ware' were three pseudonyms used on emails that were about both official and family business.

Schwerin, a close business associate of Hunter's at his investment firm Rosemont Seneca, is being brought in Tuesday under a subpoena by Republicans leading the impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden. He is sitting for closed-door testimony related to his communications with White House staff regarding Ukraine.

Republicans say that the bulk of Schwerin's communications with Joe Biden's pseudonym accounts occurred between 2010 and 2019 - with the most volume in the years Joe was vice president.

According to Schwerin's opening remarks first obtained by CNN, he called GOP allegations 'preposterous' and maintained that he was 'not aware of any financial transactions or compensation' Joe Biden received through his family's businesses.

In August, the House Oversight Committee demanded information from the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) related to the pseudonym emails used by then-VP Joe.

They say that the agency has stonewalled their requests for information and only have produced documents 'innocuous or flattering' toward Biden.

In December, the House Committee on Ways and Means released an 11-page spreadsheet compiled by an IRS criminal investigator that included 'dozens of email exchanges' with Hunter, Schwerin and Biden's pseudonyms.

The committee said that specifically 54 of those emails were just between Joe Biden and Schwerin.

Republican investigators say NARA has released documents showing Schwerin had 'direct contact with White House employees regarding Burisma, a Ukrainian entity that paid Hunter Biden millions of dollars and that is relevant to the Committees’ ongoing investigation.'

They plan to question Schwerin about those communications, including the already-released accounts.

DailyMail.com previously reported on Schwerin's emails with then-VP staffer Kate Bedingfield in December 2015 regarding Hunter's Ukraine ties.

In an exchange on December 4, 2015 labeled 'Quotes,' Schwerin sought the VP's sign-off on statements he suggested the White House use to respond to media inquiries regarding Hunter's role in Ukrainian oil company Burisma as Joe ramped up his anti-corruption work in the country.

At the time, Hunter was serving on the board of the company making roughly $83,000 a month despite having no previous experience in the energy industry.

According to the records, Schwerin wrote to Bedingfield's official '@ovp.eop.gov' account, suggesting language 'from a spokesperson for Hunter' distancing Joe from Hunter's lucrative Burisma role.

She replied: 'VP signed off on this' a few hours later, and then sent the statement to the New York Times and other inquiring outlets.

On the exact day of the email exchange, Hunter was actually in Dubai with Burisma executives at a dinner at the Four Seasons.

Hunter allegedly said at that dinner that he would be able to get 'help from D.C.' in order to relieve some 'government pressure' on the company as they faced corruption probes.

His other associate Devon Archer testified before Congress last year that Burisma 'requested Hunter, you know, help them with some of that pressure,' and 'D.C.' meant his influence based on his connection to his then-VP father.

'Well, I mean, he was a lobbyist and an expert and obviously he carried, you know, a very powerful name. So I think it was that's what they were asking for,' said Archer about Hunter.

He then continued on to confirm that immediately after Hunter was asked to help during the Four Seasons meeting, he 'called his dad.'

Although Archer was not 'privy' to the call, he was told that 'we called D.C.'

The emails between Schwerin and Bedingfield were first publicized by America First Legal in March as part of an ongoing Freedom of Information Act lawsuit with the National Archives.

Many of the related emails have been 'withheld in full' due to White House executive privilege.

The White House has maintained that Joe Biden has never been 'in business' with his son or aware of his foreign dealings.

This is the second time Schwerin has been interviewed by the House Oversight Committee.

In March 2023, he told committee staff that he was 'not aware' of transactions 'into or out' of then-Vice President Joe Biden's bank account that were connected to Biden family business, according to a Democrat aide.

Schwerin also acted as then-VP Biden's financial adviser from 2009 to 2017, according to the aide.

Oversight Chairman James Comer has also demanded 'all drafts' of then-VP Biden's speech that he delivered to the Ukrainian Rada on December 9, 2015.

During the speech, Biden touted his anti-corruption efforts in the country and urged an overhaul and reform of the office of the general prosecutor.

At the time, top Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin was investigating oil company Burisma Holdings for corruption - the same company that Hunter was a sitting board member of.

In March 2016, Joe Biden is alleged to have threatened to withhold $1 billion in aid to Ukraine if Shokin was not fired for corruption, which he eventually was.
