It was a bad play call, but the criticism of Ferentz is a little overheated. Iowa left 3 points on the field at the end of the half. I don't think that is Coach Ferentz undermining his players.

For what it is worth, I didn't think the run on 2nd and 1 was a bad call. Pick up the first down, and the clock stops. You still have time to run a couple pass plays to the end zone. Third down made less sense to me.

Running at the end of the half and then going for an a maybe 1% chance with a fake field goal? It's pretty rare when both the game time and half time announcers both say it was a horrible coaching call.
