I will always be a Celtic fan because when I started watching the NBA (late 50’s) the Celts played a TEAM game with 7-8 guys being steady contributors. Up through the Bird years that was the Celtic mantra. Sure they had a star or two, but the emphasis was always on the TEAM. The last decade or so, basketball is quickly becoming a “pick and clear” game of one on one offense and the defense exhibited is one of brute physical pushing and shoving……and not one of positioning…..and that’s fine….but it isn’t my cup of tea. Haven’t watched an NBA game for more than an hour since…..2010 or so. I dont need a lecture on what I am missing……I just know that what I see (professionally) I really dont like.

I grew up on 90s basketball which is what makes this all kinda funny is typically I'm the one arguing in favor of the 90s over today's NBA. There are a lot of things I don't like about the nba now but its just completely different... not inferior. The players are incredible.

I'm just arguing over the word inferior. If you don't like it that's one thing but come on.

Also today my dad was complaining about how the NFL is way too quarterback friendly these days. Seems relevant

The only NBA games that I have been to in person were T-wolves. Got to see both Garnett and Dwayne Wade play. Even that was superior to the shit put out there now.

How about that WNBA though? Last year's season had 144 very talented and skilled players, many of them were once All Americans.

I generally enjoy watching a good WNBA game over an NBA game as the women just pass/share the ball more than the men.

Seriously? I was watching the Fighting Mahomes vs Steelers with my brother and my niece’s hubby and we all feel like it’s nowhere like it was in the 90’s and early 2000’s.
I feel like half the teams have QB’s that just are not of the quality like back then.
Of course we are most familiar with the Jags and Trevor Lawrence is just not our idea of an elite NFL Quarterback.

I predict it will get worse too because of the portal. Players will spend their time hopping around for a better deal instead of 3-4 years growing and developing league ready skills.

I did see a blurb from Tom Brady talking about “the portal”…..He made a solid point (I thought) saying these young QBs who hit the portal because they arent playing are short-cutting themselves by not figuring out how they can get more playing time by working harder in practices and the film room.

Been an NBA fan since the Bob love Bulls of the 70s.
The game has continually evolved.

80s were rugged ball of lambier/ pistons / Jordan rules...tackling mj and low scoring.
Then the Knicks and Oakley took it further and fans were screaming for change in rules.
They cut out holding on perimeter and scoring came back.

Now..too much scoring and too many threes.

Any who watched the Celtics the last 3 years knows they share the ball tremendously with 5 shooters who can hit from deep.
They defend very well.
They have grown up together and are in sync.

Fans are nostalgic for the 90s Bulls...i am also.
But, like college football, NFL,NCAA BB , MLB, the regular season has become less valued by fans and playoffs are all that matters.
Mj considered every opportunity to put on the Bulls uni as a chance to destroy an opponent...that intensity has waned in all sports in regular season
The NBA playoffs are pure great entertainment for 2+ months.
Watch them and then check yourself.
