Projected Iowa would be 9-0. I think it's time that all the Kirk Ferentz bashers admit this guy can coach. Only second time the Hawks have started 9-0, both under his watch.

I also tip my hat to the assistant coaches. They have really stepped up, especially Parker and Davis.

I also think we should never question their ability to recruit their type of players and develop football players.

I am truly enjoying the ride this year, glad I have my season tickets. I really bought next year would be our year.

Go Hawks!

Who was the D bag that despised KF? He basically took a dump on Ferentz every chance he got the last few years. Now he is nowhere to be seen. I would like to keep it like that.

Which one there were so many? The ones that are left are taking complete credit for the turn around by the putting heat on him comments and it's all our QB anyways.

I'm still here. Just to clarify, I as a fan and others like me should take some credit for putting some heat on Kirk. Did you forget the season that Kirk played only one quarterback through the entire miserable season? If the fans didn't speak up I believe Kirk would still be playing Ruddock.

Actually, I said before the season that, with any luck, against this schedule Iowa should go 12-0 and 10-2 would be the minimum acceptable performance.

And if this KF guy can coach, why didn't he for the last five years?

And why did he kick to Lively last week and let him make the final score closer than it should have been?

And why didn't he throw the ball or call that naked boot on the previous series so Indiana wouldn't get the ball back, wouldn't score another TD, and wouldn't have a chance to get an onside kick and tie the game? Running three plays and punting was ultraconservative playing not to lose. It's a terrible thing to keep seeing, and thank the football gods that the Hawkeyes, somehow, came up with that onside kick.

If KF could ever get out of his own way, it would be great. The players deserve the credit for the season that's happening right now, and the catalyst for that, clearly, has been CJ Beathard, the man who couldn't play last year because, according to KF, the other guy gave Iowa "the best chance to win." LOL

There is no new KF and there never will be. But if he lets these players do what they can, they will carry him to new glory in spite of himself.

I think discontent in the fanbase was important. CJ would have won two more games last year
Probably, but that doesn't account for the lack of productivity by last year's offensive line, especially on the run, and the fact that the defense was very young and gave up a ton of plays when we least needed them to.

None of which Jake or C.J. could do anything about.

Team wins and team loses.............

To say this implies KF pays attention to what you armchair Uncle Rico's think; he doesn't give a flying f@$k what you or I think. So stop kidding yourself.

The reason Iowa is 9-0 is KF felt the pressure from the fans/media/receuits/etc. If he wouldnt have changed his demeanor, we would be stuck in the 7-5 or 8-4 rut per the usual good season. We need to enjoy this ride but without the 'bashers' KF prolly wouldnt have changed....

I think if they would have squeaked out a win in the bowl game, things would have been much different this season! Glad they all took a look at what was going on and made a commitment to change. Just now hope there is enough to convince all to maintain this type of commitment going into next year. If this team turns the corner to which they have this year, it is going to make one heck of a difference with recruiting. Let Kirk go out at some point on a high note. I would rather he do so than what happened with Coach Fry.

It would be interesting to test your theory by counting how many plays CJ changes the call at the line of scrimmage. Don't forget the TD we scored when the coaching staff got a sideline infraction warning for being on the field to attempt (& fail) to call a timeout.

The only person who I think can credibly value the worth of a coach is the player on the field. Fortunately if they are reading these boards they don't waste any energy responding to you douchers.

We are 9-0, enjoy it!

KF deserved critcism past few years. He also deserves national coach of the year.

My take is a little different. I don't see a huge difference in KF, but we have a favorable schedule this year, just as we did last year.

The difference is that we pulled the Iowa St game out, coming down the stretch, we beat Pitt in overtime, and got help by a QB fumble against Wisconsin. Many years that would equate to 6-3.

But we ARE 9-0 and I am truly enjoying it. My Wife even watched the Indiana game yesterday, as I had it on my Big Screen, with Arkansas vs Ole Miss on a smaller TV. The only time the Hogs made my Big TV, was when the Iowa game was at commercial, and after it was over.

Need I say a great day of Saturday football here.

Just like Kirk gets the blame for what happened the previous 5 seasons, he gets the credit for what is happening this season. He finally made meaningful changes that have had a significant impact on the program. Do the players deserve credit for this? Absolutely. It couldn't happen without them buying in to the program. However, it's up to the coaches, and ultimately to Kirk, to put those players in positions for them to be successful.

No, Bio, I think you are wrong. KF felt the pressure only from himself and possibly the big money donors, but not the fans, media, recruits, etc. He may have also been told by son to possibly change things. Sometimes family can tell you things that other won't or can't.

lol When is your check coming to compensate you and the other coaches on here? Are you guys that arrogant to think for a second Ferentz changed for you? The man is a proven winner that hates to lose. He knew long before all your advice he needed to change things up.
I think we've played only one qb this year besides for mop up duty. I know you don't believe it but he had reasons for what he did in the past.

Do you really think KF really took in to account what the fans said. Have you sat in the stadium and heard the stupid comments from fans to include me? No, this was a self re-evaluation when what he expected or wanted weren't working.

Yet when the team fails to meet expectations it is the coaches fault never the execution of the players. When things are going good, it is the players and never the coaches. Can't have it both ways.

Is Rudock our QB?

If we hadn't applied to heat you would not have a 9–0 season to enjoy. BTW here we are at 9–0 and you are still harping about how you are Mr. Superfan about how you are better than me. You are a divisive element
We applied the heat? Lol, give me a break.

I agree, I never thought he wasn't a good coach, I did/do think he lost his way the last 4 years and wasn't giving it his all. He even as much admitted that himself.

This year has been nice. What I need to see is no more dips. When Kirk wins 9+ wins year for multiple years in a row then we are talking about a legendary coach.

He didn't admit not giving 100% he said he had to refocus. Anyone doing a job for that length of time should or will do that.

Uh...I didn't say that. I agree with what you said, by the way. If any head coach feels pressure from fans then they are in the wrong business.

Iowa football has changed for the better.

Iowa has benefited from some luck.

Iowa is 9-0

All of the above are facts

True, but they have not benefited from as much luck as they have in the past. In 2009 they had to block two field goals to win a game. They needed a miracle pick 6 against Indiana and some would say some favorable officiating in that game. This year, they had to make a last second field goal, but that doesn't seem as much lucky as they are just good. Or, they are making their own luck. If anything, this team has been unlucky with all the injuries. However, I'm pretty sure just about every team has had significant injuries this year so maybe that all evens itself out.

I believe there are many fans like myself. Love Ferentz as a coach and an ambassador of the game. However, we were getting very tired of the same old crap. A change was needed and I honestly feel that Ferentz has made changes to basically save his job. It has forced him to get out of his comfort zone, and we are WINNING.

omg do we have to continue to listen to these totally delusional fans who somehow think their irrational bitching and moaning is responsible for this team's success. this season is all on kirk, the team and the staff. kirk knows too much football to be influenced by you. as the players often state, they did their best to tune you out.

You are absolutely correct NYHawk52. Listening to the fans in the stands has often times been eye opening on the ignorance of football on display.

How else can the fair weather fans hop back on the bandwagon? They could never admit they were ignorant fools, that if anybody had listened to them THIS YEAR WOULD NOT EXIST, and that they were wrong, oh so wrong.

Nothing has changed except execution.

That's football.

Lmao, how pathetic does this sound? Is it just me or is this like a 9.8 on the pathetic scale

Oh I don't know. Alabama doesn't seem to be bothered by injuries at QB, RB or DE. Ohio State certainly doesn't have that problem. TCU doesn't. Clemson doesn't although Watson has been shaken up at times this season. LSU doesn't have those problems. They just have a problem beating Bama.

The top teams usually don't have to deal with injuries and if they do, they have a plethora of top tier backups to replace them. That's why they're the top teams.

I don't agree he is a good coach! He let two poor QB's run the football program into the ground for 5 years and 9-0 start makes him Woody Hayes....NOT! Part of coaching is recognizing your talent and getting the best players on the field....rarely done with this coach! Still not sold on GD, but CJ has made him look good so far. They have a good thing going this year and I love it! I think a new president and pressure from boosters and disgruntle fans have at least opened his eyes! He even admitted he had neglected his responsibilities to a certain degree.... I hope he keeps it going and doesn't crawl back into his hole! Hard to complain about this team...I have really enjoyed this group! Here is to 13-0 and a chance to win it all!!
