At least not yet......I want us under the radar for awhile longer. However, I see us at 23 in tomorrow's polls or something like that...

Lol. You're probably one of those guys that thought Kentucky should lose before the ncaa tournament. And that Arrieta should have given up a few runs the other night to avoid going into the postseason "too hot".

I see what he's saying. Don't care about rankings or what other people think. Just keep winning and all that BS takes care of itself.

That said, we're unbeaten and just beat Wisco, we'll be ranked.

Win week to week is all that matters. I believe true rankings should come in in mid October. And we being still undefeated at that time, rank us accordingly. I just hope being ranked and with no losses doesn't go to their heads...

I don't. What's the negatives of being ranked? I can think of multiple positives.

Yeah, I don't care about the rankings. And neither do the 16-18 year old kids who are deciding where they want to play football.

Keep the Hawks under the radar. That way they never have to learn how to handle success.

This.. This is so far from the truth! I got a taste of these players lives this weekend as one of my old AAU kids is a linebacker for Wisconsin.. We sat around with 10-12 players and watched games last night and they talk just like you and me! They know everything that's going on in CFB and were pissed because they know they're losing their ranking. They also talked about what a few of their recruits had to say about that loss.. Recruits care and players care.. Everyone wants to be seen as elite

There comes a point where you need to be/have to be ranked if you want to take the next step. We are almost to the midway point of the season and it is time to enter the rankings. Iowa has Illinois and Northwestern, then a bye, then Maryland. October is huge .

Iowa needs to be ranked so that when (and IF) we get a division championship and conference title game we are in the mind and eyes of the committee when it comes to selection day.

Man..... Even when this teams winning you guys can't get along.

I see what the OP is saying. There's always a sentiment that Ferentz teams do better under the radar. I think it's an old wives tale... It's just more fun when expectations are low. That way you're never disapointed.

This team seems to be the type that would love up to expectations. They've had opportunities to collapse in all 3 tough games and came through (especially over ISU).

I can understand not being ranked last week, but now there's no way. It probably won't happen, but it's a pretty easy argument for 15-18 IMHO

Drew Ott said in the postgame that he wants to be ranked, he has never been on a ranked team.

I'm happy for him and the players that they will be ranked today!

Yes why would we want to be ranked. With it comes that positive publicity for the program and in recruiting. We don't need that...

I do understand that mentality that hopes the Hawks don't get complacent or think they're better than they are. That mindset can adversely affect some programs. However, Iowa had been unranked for years, and complacency is one of the last problems this program would ever have at this juncture. These guys are hungry to prove themselves. No ranking or any degree of media hype will be changing that any time soon.

I think there's enough game film of mistakes made in close victories to keep the team focused.

To be ranked #22 in this week's AP Poll is a good reward
for the hard work the entire Hawkeye team has put in.
They deserve some recognition. However, the leaders on
this team like Beathard and King will not let it become an
ego thing. They will work this week and focus on beating
Illinois next Saturday.

You are trying to explain why things went wrong before they actually do?

Your ideology of how the system should work doesn't matter.....IOWA needs to focus on keeping their feet firmly planted in the top 25 every year.....preferably top 15.....hence working WITH the system and not cowering away from it.

The only way to make that happen is with the toughest non-conference schedule possible. Take chances.

Want a crowd in Kinnick? schedule USC or Notre Dame.....or both.

If you think the team benefits more from not being ranked you probably smoke crack on a regular basis.

Being ranked is kinda like sex. "All others recieving votes" is just the tip. But today we have finally penetrated in full. We are now balls deep and it feels great.

This is huge. Being ranked makes all the difference when it comes to national exposure.

Congrats to the team for your accomplishment! The first time ever on a ranked team! (Now don't let it go to your heads and beat the Illini.)
