I figured that we would lose 4-5 BIG10 games, but I did not expect...

...any of them to be to Minnesota. And surely not a end of the game collapse. I did not think this team would choke. They did. And not just the team, but the coach & staff as well. But even BIG10 Champs can choke, if they learn from it the first time.

Yeah I think looking at the schedule the margin for error was depleted last night. Looking at having to steal a tough road game now. Originally I thought 9-1 at home and 6-4 on the road would do the trick but that couldn’t be one of the four losses. Probably need Ws at Rutgers and Illinois to stay towards the top.

Problem is now they need to steal one on the road at Rutgers, Illinois, MSU or Wisky.

Home court advantage is mostly negated this season by empty gyms.

Iowa will be in contention for best record in the league.

MSU has 2 losses, IL has 1, and Iowa has one. This league is tough. There are no gimme’s. We lost on Christmas Day. This isn’t a time to jump off supporting this team. The biggest issue we have is the fan base myself included buying into the hype created for us because we have Garza.
We have the potential to be very good. Let’s enjoy the ride, not be bummed because we likely won’ t be national champs.

Fans or no fans, you have the home team sleeping in their own beds at night and playing in a familiar arena. I don’t know how many points that’s worth but I’d say it’s still a slight advantage. However, RocknRoll is absolutely correct this isn’t the usual home court advantage.

You're right its worth something but no where near having fans.

Fans are what causes officials to make judgment calls that favor the crowd.

Kind of what I was thinking. Minnesota was one game I did not expect to lose. Blowing a 7 point with less than 40 seconds left against a second tier team with multiple transfers coming off a 27 point loss very discouraging.

Minny is much better than expected. Their top 7 players are really good. I watched a handful of Drake games last year and Robbins is a legit big man, and a great story as a kid that did not play a lot in high school.

As a former 2-man in high school and college, I'll also add that "environment" plays a role in shooting percentages. Being accustomed to background, lighting, etc can play a huge role in makes and misses. Typically in favor of the home team.

Now up to 72% for home teams.. was 69% with fans last year.

Ref whistles still seem to favor home teams. Will be interesting how this plays out. Maybe Carver becomes as hard to play at as Kohl Center or Breslin, etc.
