In O'Keefe and Polasek. Lol. There's a joke in here somewhere, I'm sure of it. Anyone care to provide the punchline?
How many offensive coordinators does it take to rush for 19 yards?

Ya there’s a serious disconnect in the offensive staff at the moment. 19 yards on 25 carries. That is just......not even sure what to say

And the actual offensive coordinator has zero experience at the job....and just happens to be the head coach's son.

Meanwhile, Polasek...who is an experienced (and proven) offensive coordinator is coaching the offensive line...something he has never done before.

Makes sense to me.

Like I've always said, the fans love to blame the OC and always spare Captian Kirk.

It's weird. There is a common denominator.
with normal teams I would say you are 100% correct but for some reason KF has always and I mean always, treated the OC as a totally separate independent entity and it's "hands off". let them make all the calls, let them run the show. KF is the opposite of a micro manager

It just defies logic that 3 OC's on one staff, can lay that big a turd. Doesn't it?
How can 3 guys put their 1.3 million dollar heads together and produce that? It doesn't seem possible.

Sounds like a couple guys need to switch roles - Polasek to OC and Brian to Associate Head Coach and Oline Coach. Don't think Kirk ever was an OC in his climb to being a head coach.

But Kirk laying the ground work for Brian might blow up in his face if this S Show continues. Then again, we have Gary Barta as AD so we are screwed and he will blindly turn the reigns over to Jr. Dilly dilly.

Iowa has that stand out season once every 5-6 years and the rest are pretty average.

Rinse and repeat.

With all that $$$ rolling into the coffers from the B1G tv contract, nothing major will change. Outside of some big scandal, and we know KF is a great guy, personally...this is Iowa football.

ya, offensive philosophy comes from captain kirk, doesn't matter who the oc is
1) conservative offense, rely on the defense
2) 50/50 run/pass split
3) don't do anything crazy

Hindsight: I wish BF had kept OL with OC duty. Is there any chance that after another poor performance like this, Kirk will have someone help with play calling?

It's one game against an average team but sobering...

The transition from a Greg Davis offense to a non Greg Davis offense isn't going to happen overnight. This is new for everybody out there.

Yeah, and having an OC with no previous such experience at any level was a PERFECT choice to go through this transition. But, I guess it's ok, since he's the son of the infallible HC.

Isnt that about every college team besides a couple elite teams?

We could have all the staff be OC’s, if it don’t get better up front this will be a long, rough rest of the season plain and simple..

It doesn't matter who the OC is. It's always gonna be Kirks offense as long as he is here. Offense to Kirk is about ball control and clock management. He refuses to look at offense as something that is supposed to put up points.

It is beyond comprehension that Wadley got almost every carry. I do not understand that mentality. It's 3rd and 12 and a hand off to Wadley who is getting fatigued. Makes absolutely no sense.

Pfftt. What transition. It’s not like this is some dynamic scheme. It’s the same bullshit we’ve seen for over a decade offensively, except now they’re worse at it and teams have zero issues defending it.

Our SR RT is out for the season. Our 2nd Team All-American Guard is playing RT. We have a RSFr starting at LT, a guard that's nursing an ankle injury, a center that's nursing a knee injury. But yes, the issue is the coaches, and definitely not growing pains on the offensive line that's all out of whack.

We had similar injuries along the OL in 2009 and 2015. Piss poor excuses.

You're a nasty person.
I certainly can be. I'm willing to engage conversation on the facts. Not fantasy. I've been wrong and admitted as much. I thought 2015 was gonna be a 5-7 season. The facts are that we have OL injuries every year. To the point where I can't ever recall a year where we didn't have starters miss games due to injury. Maybe 2002? Injuries are a part of football. QB injury is the closest thing there is to unrecoverable, season killer.

I thought we were gonna lose the final 4 games of last season too. I was wrong there. I expect us to finish 6-6 this season. They certainly could go 8-4.

last season BF was the Run Game Coordinator and OL coach and Wadley and Daniel both had 1000 yards seasons the 1st time in school history.

this season Butler joined the team and until he got hurt the team had no problem moving the ball as teams could not lock onto just Wadley. Butler is out till the NW game and its not like #4 PSU and MSU are bottom feeders.

this is the biggest problem poster think that Iowa is this elite team with these as these players are either starting or playing
QB SO Stanley 1st year starter
WR JR JUCO transfer Easley who didn't get here till January 1st year starter
WR FR Smith-Marsette 1st year playing
WR FR Brandon Smith caught his 1st pass
TE SO Fant 1st year starter
TE RSFR Hochenson 1st year starter
RB RSFR Young 1st year playing
RB FR Martin-Manley 1st year playing
LT RSFR 1st year starter
RG JR Render 1st year starter at RG
RT RSSR Welsh 1st year starter at RT.

That's 7 1st year starters and 4 1st year players on offense with a 1st year OC, 1st year OL Coach on the OL and 1st year WR Coach. yeah I can see why posters are upset, puke puke puke.

How many other OC's in college football got the gig after only 5 years of coaching in the college ranks? I'll guess 0. Barta should have never allowed the promotion.

Research this, let me know. Numbers might surprise you.

So, we can move the ball against bottom feeders but not PSU and MSU? That doesn't help your argument.
7 new starters is not the unicorn of college football. Lots of teams graduate starters every year. You list 5 FR, 2 SO and a Juco as 1st year starters. Where the Hell are all of the JRs and SRs that this staff recruited from 2013-14-'15??? We signed 58 players from those 3 classes. I guess you can take your pick. The coaches failed to recruit players from 3 entire classes that could fill the needs we have on offense, or the coaches have failed at their jobs this season. Either way, it all circles back to the coaches. There is no road of responsibility that doesn't fall on KF and his staff.
Making excuses for the coaches? puke puke puke puke PUKE!
