I mean if you’re going to lie and cheat, why not just go big

It just depends on who you have on your team.

it's not that unheard of if you can buy endless mulligans or something like that

if it's just a regular scramble then that's total bullshit

I'm certainly not going to defend the "winners", but I get a chuckle out of people who think the only way to beat them is for others to cheat. It wasn't really about the score the other team got, it was the fact the other team had a much better score. My guess is they had a creative scoring style, but without proof I wouldn't go on social media and start making claims I couldn't prove.

So.......assuming par 72 that is -24 below par.

4 par 3's
4 par 5's
10 par 4's

So presumably they birdied all par 3's, eagled all par 5's AND eagled 2 of the 10 par 4's (while carding birdies on the other 8)????

Assuming they had no double eagles or hole in ones, they would have carded 6 eagles (and 12 birdies)?

Yeah that ain't happening.

Unless that team had players who are all ranked in the top 10 in the world there’s absolutely no way they carded a 48. I would have laughed them out of the room because it’s so absurd.

Twelve 3s and six 2s. No problem!

24 under par is "not that unheard of?"

12 birdies and 6 eagles?

Even if you concede that they eagled the four par 5s, they would have had to hole out a couple of par 4s or had a couple of aces.

I’ve playing in dozens of charity scrambles where you can get to tee off 50 yards out, or buy “anything on the green is a one putt” or mulligan packs for all golfers. Or play various games to get easier shots.

That’s why I was asking about the rules.

Gotcha. When the person in the video references their handicaps, I presumed it wasn't one of "those" types of scrambles where it is nothing more than a glorified "putt putt" outing.

I'm highly skeptical, but would need to get a look at the details of the course; if it's a pitch & putt track with a bunch of drivable par 4s, I guess it could be possible. On a course of even average length, no chance.

The best I've shot in a scramble on a somewhat normal course is -20 on a par 72. All four par 5s were reachable in 2, and 2 par 4s were drivable (maybe one more par 4 for very long hitters). We had 3 eagles (2 of the par 5s, one of the short par 4s), and parred one hard par 3. My team was very good, 3 of us close to scratch, the other around a 6 or 7 (but he hits it a mile, makes a ton of birdies, and is only that high because he'll typically hit a few OB over the course of an 18 hole round).
We lost by 1 shot to a group of good friends. I know they legitimately shot -21 because they were right in front of us & we knew exactly what they were doing all day. Last hole was one of the par 5s; we had a makeable eagle putt to tie but nobody drained it.
