Anything can happen in the tourney and it would be funny if this team that was unranked pretty much all season was the team to break the streak (think we snuck in at 25 for a week IIRC) . I'm not overly optimistic the way they shoot the ball away from IC but if last year's ISU team can make the s16 this Iowa team can.

It's called March madness for a reason, if Kris gets back to his normal self and Fil keeps delivering I will feel better about things. I'm more focused on not losing out to finish the season, starts tomorrow

We've had those players or better in the past and went no where. Iowa cannot stop teams when it matters and good shooting teams kill Fran.

It's not a coincidence that successful teams in March can shoot AND play defense.

Conference tourney games aren't counted in conference record. Otherwise I think if the team finishes the season on that slide the NIT awaits.

Agreed, of course it is possible this team could make the sweet16--- matchups matter a lot.

If one reviews Fran's NCAA appearances, they had a decent chance of making the sweet16 the year they had Cook, Moss, Garza,JBO vs Tennessee and lost in OT.

I think what is clear about this current team is their ceiling is not that high because they have to outscore their opponent which means they can't grind out wins if the 3-ball is not going down. So sweet16's is unlikely and Elite8 is nearly impossible for this Fran team or any past Fran team.

A lot of teams get hot in conf tourneys and win their league when they have no reason to. Same in the Ncaa tourney where a few hot shooting teams that can play some Dee and with nothing to lose play loose and get to the sweet 16.

Was Iowa the best team in the Big 10 tourney last year, NO, but they were solid. And JBo went nuts, Keegan had a great tourney, Perkins peeked and played well, Sandfort shot it well.

Iowa could win and get to the sweet 16 if and only if they shoot lights out, hit the boards, and force some press turnovers, because they aint going to all of sudden start playing Knight/Virginia-style really good defense.

The other thing that will help the hawks advance is to NOT play some great defensive teams in the first two rounds because they have not reacted well against those teams this year.
