...when I saw Chuckles on display at the small cafe I had lunch. There were just 7 of them sitting there all lonesome, so I bought them all. $1 each. They were old and kinda hard but they softened up after a minute in my mouth. I will have one here at lunch and the last two after supper. I feel like a kid again, a kid that struck gold.

I haven't had any candy like that (gum drops) in what seems like forever. I would probably stay away from chewing on an old root canal tooth.

Most Ace Hardware locations have Chuckles. I always get two with whatever I purchase.

I never played football or baseball in high school as a visitor at Bettendorf, but I played a lot of CABA and Bambino youth games against the Black Sox. They were tough! We came back from being 6 down in last inning to knock them off at the old youth field that was below the football stadium. Then we won the tourney. Fun times. That’s my memory of Bettendorf.

I have a old client that is dying. He lives in Bettendorf. Most of his trades were losers, but he is a winner. I will miss him.

There was once a sign on River Drive as you enter Bettendorf
coming from Davenport. It was a sign saying that the speed
limit was 35 miles per hour and "Children should be seen and
not hurt." Bettendorf is a friendly city in the Quad Cities.

I don't recall it exactly, but it had the word Brew in the name, so I had to stop.
I wonder if it was the place just called "Brew". Right on the corner in the Village of East Davenport. Nice little spot if thats what you're talking about

What year did you leave? I have lived there since 88 my second year at Iowa.

He said he was in Bettendorf.

This thread has inspired me to by a box (24 individual packages) of Chuckles on amazon. OP got a very good price at a buck per package.

I could eat a Marathon bar right now if the opportunity presented itself.

just to be clear..something gave you a memory...or were you physically transported back in time like a twilight zone episode?

I never liked jelly type candies, so Chuckles don't move the meter for me at all. I also despise Dots, jellied orange/fruit slices, Jujubes, etc.

There are some retro type candies I enjoy that I still can find like Milk Duds, Sugar Babies/Sugar Daddies and Slo-Pokes.

Does anyone remember these? I used to love them both but I haven't seen any in the wild for a very long time.
