I would like to thank the Indiana coaches

For coming out throwing on 1st down on many of their second-half drives.

Not sure we ever really shut down their running game, couldn't believe they went away from it.

Yes - no doubt. They should have rode that horse until it was necessary to pass for a 1st down. My guess is that coach Wilson had the same thought and was trying to catch Iowa off-guard by passing. Thankfully, Sudfeld was not sharp yesterday -he was much more accurate against MSU. Credit to the Iowa secondary as well.

I also appreciated how they were able to stick to the ground game as the clock ran down at the end of the game with their team needing two scores.

The Hawkeyes did a much better job of limiting Howards runs in the second half and rallying to gang tackle. I also believe (after listening to some of the game on satellite radio with Indiana announcers) that the Hawkeyes aggravated his ankle injury after a gang tackle early in the second half.

I was saying same thing in the stands about my IU offense on first down..."Run the ball." Howard was having his way at that point.

I couldn't believe the number of times IU went empty backfield on first down too. I am not a Wilson basher, but he really does at times outsmart himself.

That "horse" appeared to be tired on several occasions. He took himself out of the game a time or two, and was slow to the huddle quite a bit in the 2nd half. May have been a combo of not in great shape and a dinged ankle, but he was gassed I thought.

I counted 3 dropped picks; 2 by Taylor and 1 by Lomax.

those Iowa DBs should work on their ball catching skills.

As to Howard, he took himself out of the game and wasn't 100% in 4th quarter. A guy like Howard shows that a good RB can make a huge difference in college run game.

Howard was a beast. Best RB we will face all year. The rest of their RBs couldn't do squat.

When Howard took himself out after the run down to about the 12, which happened right in front of us, would like to know why Wilson went to Majette and not back to Redding? Majette has potential and is fast, but not strong enough yet. At that point, IU needed a td. Again, had to settle for a fg.

He was one the sideline during one series. #34 came in for him. Time or two he came off the field to hydrate.

Spot on. He was flat out worn out by the 4th quarter. I wonder if his injury hurt his game conditioning.

I would imagine that is the case. Hopefully Canzeri has been doing a little more cardio than Mr. Howard upon his return. :D

In all fairness to Sudfeld he was flushed and thrown off his game. He looked good against MSU because their pass defense is atrocious, we found this out last night. MSU's defense does not have that edge that they have had in the past. Howard did a good job of getting in the middle and popping outside from the pile. We will do a better job against the run. They were running to the left side of their line. They have a good offensive line and good backs but I think they underestimated our back 7 in coverage. The pick by King was something of beauty. He baited the QB like a mousetrap with peanut butter. IMO, He is the National Defensive Player of the year.

King is ABSOLUTELY in the running for National player of the year honors on Defense (Jim Thorpe Award for D'backs?). He ran towards the center of the field and watched Sufeld the entire time, and knew he had time over that distance to get back to the guy running down the sideline. Textbook Corner play (teach your teammates this technique please.......;)). The guy has been brilliant on D, and damn good on kick returns and punts. He's worth his weight in gold to the Hawks right now.

To be fair to both sides, Hawks also missed several opportunities for interceptions that kept IU possessions alive as well.

You're absolutely right, Doodle. Iowa had just as many drops as the Hoosier receivers. It's just that ours were by the DB's, not the offense. Guess 'ol Sudfeld just doesn't throw a very 'catchable' ball.

How many rushing yards did Indiana have in the second half? It felt like Iowa shut down the run for the most part.

To reply to my own reply, I think Desmond King is to the defense as CJ is to the offense. They seem to be better and more confident on the field when these 2 are out their. It is a total confidence thing. The offense is the same but we are executing better because of CJ. The defense is the same but is more confident with Desmond King. The defense plays faster because of confidence. It is excruciating to watch but also just love this team.

Phil Parker made adjustments at Half on the run defense and fisher played the whole 2nd half in the 1st half fisher and perry were trading off for some reason. By the way Jewell had 15 tackles 11 solos wow that's awesome

Agree about King. Very smart, great technique, a gamer, good speed, and GREAT hands. The dropped INT's mentioned above reminded me of what fantastic hands King has. If he can get to it, he's going to pick it off. That pick against Maryland on the WR screen was another great example of his hands. That pass was a bullet at close range and he picked it out of the air effortlessly, as if he'd been the receiver.

He has to be in the lead for the Thorpe award, at the very least, I'd think.

This came could have ended differently if a lot of things had or had not happened...kind of like life...

It ended well...

Call and play of the year...bootleg to seal the deal at the end...on the road vs a dangerous opponent...

But I guess, that could not have been called...then something else would have or might have happened...

Fisher was coming out due to a migraine. He clearly wasn't his normal self, he looked lost out there a couple times. Props to him for fighting through it though. Jewell was FREAKING machine yesterday.
