Kyle Schwarber will eventually find his way into the
American League as a Designated Hitter. David Ortiz
was a defensive liability until he found his niche as DH.
Gray's name keeps coming up with the Cubs. Why? I don't see the A's trading him for two years. His service time started in 2013 and doesn't get arbitration until the 2017 season.
I'm listening, by the way, if the A's come calling. Schwarber has transcendental power, but if your team gets better in the deal make it. As Millah said, I think you'd see multiple players involved.
There have been rumors about the Red Sox trying to trade for Gray over the offseason. All speculation is that it's AT LEAST 2 of their top 5 prospects and a solid starter. Gray has a lot of value. And he's dreamy.

I'm sure any potential Gray-Schwarber deal wouldn't be a simple 1-1 straight-up deal, but I would certainly look at Schwarber differently than even top 5 prospects. He's no longer a prospect, really -- he's a ML-ready power hitter. He still has some holes in his swing and he's still developing as a major-league hitter, but you go plug him in just about anyone's major league lineup and he's going to hit 35 HRs and drive in 100+. That's not projecting off minor league numbers, that's what he did this year. In regular season and playoffs, he hit 21 HRs and drove in 51 in just 260 at bats. So, if I'm Theo, I'm certainly pricing him higher than just a Top 5 prospect.
