Rutgers wrestled Princeton outdoors today in our football stadium, and had the second-largest dual-meet attendance in history, with 17k watching. (BTW, Ashnault lost with a last-second takedown to the guy who he split with at Nationals last year.)

So I did no research, but figured you'd know who had the largest dual attendance ever. I think it was last year and something tells me the Hawks were involved. Any idea?

From ESPN:
More than 42,000 watch Iowa-Oklahoma State wrestling match

Nov 14, 2015
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The Iowa wrestling team shattered the NCAA attendance record Saturday in the first meet ever held in a Division I football stadium.

The Hawkeyes beat top-ranked Oklahoma State 18-16 at Kinnick Stadium before a crowd of more than 42,000. Penn State held the previous mark of 15,996 set in 2013.

Iowa had a special mat marked with football yard lines placed in the south end zone at Kinnick, and the crowd filled the end zone seats and stretched all the way to the opposing 20-yard line.

Concerns about adverse weather never came to pass. Sunny skies and temperatures in the low 50s greeted wrestlers, who wore stocking caps and jackets.

Since we're throwing red meat questions around, I also have a question. I was proud that PSU won four in a row and 5 of the last 6 titles, but I've recently heard rumors that Iowa may have won some titles in the distant past. Care to elaborate? I just found it strange since wrestling didn't begin until 2009 according to our reckoning. ;)

Well played.

Relatively new to wrestling, but typically venture to your board since you know your stuff. And 42k are crazy numbers. A buddy of mine who used to be a bigtime Hawks blogger once told me that at Iowa, there's only one group the football players are afraid of--the wrestlers.
