If I’m a coach, I take half my salary and buy a couple studs

Is this legal?
No coach in their right mind would spend several million dollars for a couple college transfers. Too risky. One ACL tear/cracked rib from a wasted “investment”; an injury and a bust from a complete disaster. I mean, there are some dumb coaches out there but they’re not brain dead.

Was thinking more like what Gundy did. Take a pay cut with the cut going to a pot for the players.

Why would KF give away any of his money. He already has a contract that will take him to the end of his career.

Dumb thread
work someone GIF

As part of the restructuring of Gundy's contract, his $7.75 million annual salary will be reduced to be redistributed as part of revenue sharing with players
Which is not the same as going to the SWARM, this is institutional money that will go to the new revenue sharing program which will be equal throughout all the programs. Not a needle mover, just a different pot for the Cowboys to fund their revenue sharing from.

I guess my point is, do you think a coach would take less out defer some money into players money, if it would help get wins

False equivalency, but you know that
So is you saying any coach is going to do that. I just never understand why Iowa fans expect Iowa's HC to do stuff that literally no other coach would do and they wouldn't either if it was them. I know its really easy to sit on the sideline and say I' do this or I'd call this play AFTER the plays been run. Just like the people who bitch about his salary, like they're paying it, and he's paid pretty much middle of the pack compared to his peers. Just silly arguments....

Would they? Certainly, can they? No.
Gundy isn’t contributing to the outside recruiting arm that the collectives control. He is helping the school cover their lack of school revenue. He doesn’t contribute anything to the extra funds that could sway a recruit.

I’m not bitching, i was spitballing. If I was making 5million, I would throw in a million to get a couple stud tackles to help my offense look better, win more.

But you wouldn’t be able to, unless you were going to blatantly break the rules. Surprised that
A. You didn’t know that before because it has been covered repeatedly and
B. Been pointed out multiple times in this thread

Trying to figure out your motive in this thread

A. I hadn't paid attention to this previously.
B. I had heard Gundy did what he did, understood it was to help with players, maybe I was wrong.
C. Hypothetically, if I were a coach, I know my success is about the players I bring in, investing in that makes sense.

Damn shame he donated that money to the Stead Family Hospital. Terrible guy made a seven-figure gift to spite you.
I don’t have an issue with his donation levels. I also don’t think his hospital donations are that big of a deal considering his income level and guarantees from the University. Given the fact that his best achievement in the last decade is a close loss in a CCG, I’d say he got the better end of the deal.

I’m only donating a million to the fund if we raise a million for NIL…I’ve agreed that they can’t directly donate, but come on.
It’s a lead or matching gift. It is a significant way around the rules. There will be more and more creative ways

Here you are folks Kirk Derangment Syndrome on full display. hahahahahahaha
Derp. Guy is a geek. I don’t think anyone who isn’t overweight with insecurity about Iowa football would tell that he is not a dork with no life outside of Iowa football, him included

Bless you...the gift that keeps on giving.
I’ve posted on this board like 5x - you have no idea who I am. But I can you’re the insecure type that gets butthurt when people speak about the good captain in anything less than glowing terms of reverence.

Do you realize that Oklahoma State went 0-9 in the Big 12? That's the real reason that Gundy took a pay cut? He didn't really have a choice. :)

It seems that donating any amount of money is risky if your sole intention is to get 1 or 2 specific players. Until there are contracts that bind some type of agreement, you have no idea what a kid might do.

Uses derp and then calls others dorks.......interesting approach.

If a coach wants to donate money that ends up in the hands of his teams NIL after going through multiple channels, I’m sure that a finance guy savvy with that type of thing could make it happen, and I’m sure it will happen, if not happening already.

Ferentz will likely do some forms of this down the stretch of his career.

KF is getting below current market value as coach right now, but I would argue Athletic departments should be spending more on NIL and less on coaches---raising NIL is easily done by lowering ticket prices and then adding a surcharge for NIL

No Iowa coach has ever turned down a paycheck, so I don' t see them taking their own money and putting it into NIL.
I assume KF is pissed about BF getting let go, but BF did milk Iowa for probablly $5 million in salary while in his final 2 years putting up the worst 2 year Iowa offense in history of Iowa football.

Ya gotta be careful with this, especially since you have logic in your name.

Let me explain how "market value" works. Your worth in a free market is determined by what people are willing to pay you.
Now, your assertion is other programs would be willing to compensate him in a superior fashion to his current employer in order to gain his services.
Now that is just good old fashion lying. Neil Cornrich has climbed inside your brain and convinced you this is 2005.
No program would hire him at his current rate. They know he has his son-in-law on staff and wouldn't have ever fired his biological son. They know the bloom is off the rose and has been for a long time.
If Beth told him he ain't gettin any more goodies from the U, and he can walk if he doesn't like it. He wouldn't walk, cuz he's got no place to go and an unhealthy ambition to feed.

I think Kirk is passed Brian Ferentz was let go before season was over and not when/how we wanted to do it, but I don't think he's really that pissed Brian Ferentz was let go. I think Kirk would have let him go at the end of that year or Brian would have resigned. That was going to be Brian’s last year as OC regardless.

You don’t know that, and there’s absolutely nothing about KF’s history of handling coaches (particularly coordinators) to suggest that that is the case. Keep your bullshit to yourself.
