If JBo shuts it down

If JBo shuts it down,... the team's opportunities will be somewhat diminished, but the tight roster might be just what is needed to lay the foundation for what could be a very special 2020 season..

Yeah from CyTwins.

Is this the same CyTwins that laughed at Iowa for having to settle on Bohannon as a backup recruit who would be in over his head in Div. I?

The only way Jordan doesn't come back to Iowa for his senior year is if he has to have the other hip operated on as well and he just can't physically manage the stress on his body.

If JBo shuts it down and comes back next season the team has the potential to be great. Now granted we are bound to lose at least 2-3 of these guys, most likely Pemsl and/or Nunge. Weezy and Garza could leave too but not expecting it.

JBo/ Joe T/ Uhlis
Fredrick/ Perkins
Weezy/ PMac/ Keegan
CMac/ Kris/ Pemsl?
Garza/ Ogundele/ Nunge?

4 spot is still going to be an unknown but have liked what I saw from Connor playing there. The guards though, holy hell am I excited about them. We will have an incredible combination of shooters, drivers, and slashers to complement Garza in the post. That is going to present serious matchup problems for pretty much any team we face. Should be fun to watch!

Jordan is an all-time great Hawk already, and whatever he chooses to do I just hope he is able to fully recover from such a serious injury. He's a smart kid so there's no doubt he'll make the right choice. Go Hawks!

Fran has 2 options. Either joe t gets Bohannon minutes and Bakari gets joe t’s minutes or we step away from starting 4 guards starting lineup and Kriener starts. This would give pemsl and/or till more minutes.

If Jbo doesn’t come back his minutes will be absorbed by everyone. We’re talking about 28 minutes or so. Joe T will probably need to go from 15 to 25. Kriener will play more minutes and each starter will need to add a couple more. Probably a couple more for BK if he can keep improving.

The most interesting issue will involve seeing how other teams react to Bohannon no longer being on the court. Garza definitely benefits from opponents having to guard Weiskamp, Bohannon and Frederick on the perimeter. Opens it up nicely for Garza. If teams don't have to respect the outside shooting of Touissant and/or Evelyn, Garza will have 2-3 guys dropping on him nearly every time that he touches the ball. Best case scenario for Iowa is for McCaffrey to suddenly find consistency from being the 3 pt line and for him to become a viable threat.

I can't see Fran staring both bigs. They have to rotate.

Pemsl is clearly not a good option to ever be on the court this year. Maybe by next year.

You could if you staggered your subs. Put your best 5 out to get a good start and sub in your 6th man around the 15 minute mark. That allows you to bring Kriener back in around the 10 minute mark to relieve Garza. May not be the solution but it is an option.

You sure? There’s been lots of smoke about grad transferring.
If he wanted to grad transfer then playing the 10 games doesn't make much sense. He could have simply stayed out medically.
He appeared to love being a Hawkeye.

because hip surgeries are bad and hard to come back from. If it’s both hips now like it’s rumored, it could just be too much for him.
I wonder if two hip surgeries could end his hoops career. His non basketball life is more important.

I highly doubt that Kreiner could stay out of foul trouble with increased minutes. He finds a way to get back to back fouls , on either end of the floor way too often in games. Love his effort, and he has some skills no doubt, but he still does some of the same silly fouls he had as a freshman.
