Well, if an offense consisted of just TEs and RBs……but it doesn’t……

A pulse, even faint or thready, is light years ahead of the past several years.

Yes the potential is there but has there ever been a new system offense with a new oc at any program that gelled in the first season? not being cynical, really asking if there are instances.
Too lazy to look, but if there were any the last couple of years they did better than our Hawks per the offensive numbers.

Quick search

Oklahoma. Riley was hired by Bob Stoops to be the offensive coordinator for the Oklahoma Sooners on January 12, 2015. In his first season at Oklahoma, Riley led the Sooners to the 7th ranked offense in the country while Bob Stoops led the Sooners to the College Football Playoff.

Jeff Grimes - In his first year in Waco, they won 12 games and a Big XII title, with Gerry Bohanen and Blake Shapen starting at QB.

Ryan Grubb - Washington in year 1 with the Huskies, his offense led the nation in passing yards per game and first downs per game.

Right, but we were dead last in offense last year. Kinda nowhere to go from there but up, right?? Plus, lot's of these guys have been playing together for awhile now so they do not have to adjust to the school and gel with each other, they just have to learn new assignments and at the college level of football knowledge that should not be to much to ask. If anything it sounds like there was a harder time for our defense to learn new schemes then our offense and that is encouraging considering how many times the defensive coaches give props to our defensive players for being very football intelligent.

I'll just say that Ryan Grubb and Kalen DeBoer had been working together for years, so it wasn't like he was a "new guy" on the staff.

Could we be headed to the year 2002 kinda feeling??????????????????????????????????
I’m thinking a little more like 2009…where it took two blocked FGs against UNI to start the season and launch into a deep undefeated run until stanzi went down.

Meaning I could see any game tripping up the team, especially with a new offense and high expectations, but then again they could stay very businesslike and take care of each game as they come.

At Columbus earlier on will tell us a great deal.

We should be 4-0 and hopefully the offense is clicking as we head to Columbus

Good. Then everyone can now stop complaining about the 10-2 regular season last year.

Just for the sake of staying ahead of the narrative, I saw a power ranking that had Iowa's schedule ranked the fifth toughest in the big ten. So if Iowa happens to win a bunch of low-scoring games again, no need for people to share their opinions of the schedule

Sure the offensive stats will be better. But there is such a thing as knowing who you are. Also, each team has to learn how to win together. Even though Iowa's offense wasn't any good last year, the team knew how to win. And this allowed them to make winning plays in key moments.

Whereas the recent offense wasn't able to win its assignments often enough; actually missing your assignments is something that is much more likely to happen in a brand new offense. And unfortunately, missed assignments are much more likely to lead to turnovers.

Adjusting to the new offense is definitely something that Iowa is going to have to overcome. Wisconsin had a new offense last season; and a better offense than Iowa. Iowa beat them because their identity was much more established than Wisconsin's. Iowa knew who they were as a team. And they knew how to win
