Iowa at UCLA game announced for FRIDAY Night, November 8, at 8pm CT

I’d have to go through and check again, but I’m pretty sure none of the new teams have late season games in cold weather locations. Almost seems intentional so they don’t have to play in rugged conditions (SEC never has to either, which is a total pet peeve of mine but I digress). Total cop out for the BIG to not have USC or UCLA playing in cold weather games but instead make existing BIG members travel there late in the year.

Some of you guys are so old. The traffic, night game on the West Coast, oh my God what are we going to do? It’s a football game played by 18-22 year olds. They will be fine. Nobody is out to screw the Hawks for you conspiracy guys.
Exaggerate much?

Im 100% goin. Haven't been to Cali since the debacle that was the rose bowl....
I'm down. This is also the day after my bday, may as well treat myself.

Oh My God Omg GIF by The Office

Trap game.
Play Wis prior sat in huge rivalry game..then play 6 days later on West Coast at nite?
Yikes.
Then they have 15 days off before MD game on road then another short week leading to black Friday?
Seems designed to sabotage Hawks season. Yuck.
Gotta hit those W/L over/under betting lines for the sportsbooks somehow......................

Have you been reading the comments?
Yeah, and they’re just comments...some with valid points. Friday night games carry some unique challenges especially one in LA. That said, I think you’ll see a lot of black and gold in the rose bowl. I plan to be there with my college buddy who lives in Torrance.

As I live in Burbank, I will definitely attend, though I’m disappointed in Friday night over Saturday. Traffic on the 134 will be bad on Friday evening, but it’s also bad on Saturdays.

I’d be surprised if attendance is over 45k on a Friday night.

CSB…I lived in Manhattan Beach for 8 years and went to tons of SC games and many USC/UCLA games. I can’t imagine having B1G teams rolling into town. Enjoy!
I've been in the LBC for about 9 years now. I've gone to a couple USC games and yup, definitely never imagined the Hawks would be stopping by other than the rare Rose Bowl bowl game.

Manhattan Beach is a cool area. I bet that was fun.

It was fairly crazy, was in my 20’s and lived 50 feet from the sand! Beach volleyball every weekend. And lotso evening fun!

I dated a girl in the LBC for a year but have not been there in ages. The Long Beach airport was a hidden gem!

If you’re an Iowa fan coming from elsewhere to the game wouldn’t you think “hey, let’s get there way early and find a place to hang out?” Or you could complain about traffic and leave late and bitch about it. Which is what Iowans love to do.

Nice! That's prime age and location!!
I moved here in my 20s for grad school. Ah, good memories (and many blackouts that I'm sure we're fun as well)

Long Beach airport is so convenient. Sure beats LAX.

If you are from Iowa, any amount of traffic above our measly traffic will seem like too much traffic.

Interesting. Trap game? Just wondering if there has been studies recently on how athletes perform when traveling out of their time zone? Penn state to cali maybe. But not a 2 hr diffence
That's like asking a college kid. Hey, the party starts at 9 instead of 7. The kid says man I ll be tired. Wonder how teams change their schedules or just don t change because it's bttr?

I guess. I’m from Iowa and have driven in many different cities, like Minneapolis, Chicago, LA and NYC. I didn’t think LA traffic was that bad. NYC was by far the worst traffic I’ve encountered.

The 1 or 2 hour difference don't make a difference. Anyone who travels doesn't feel that much different going to either coast. Going to Europe or Hawaii then yeah.
When you’re starting late I think it does have a bit of an impact. I’m sure most of these kids are going to bed around midnight or earlier most nights and so their biorhythm will start winding them down towards the end of the game. I remember watching Arizona beat Iowa in 2010 in my mid twenties and being super tired watching the finish and thinking that has to be some slight advantage for AZ.

People in NYC are just crazy when it comes to driving. Atlanta was also incredibly brutal. I try to avoid that whenever possible.

Yeah, the driving in NYC was either backed up going 20 or under or racing to the next traffic jam at 70 or faster, never driving the speed limit. I’ve never driven in Atlanta, but visited there as a kid and remember my dad saying it was bad.

If an 18 - 23 year old can't handle a time zone difference, they are pussies. I said it. Attack me at your will. Most of us older than that have done much more time zone changes and were expected to work.

Go to the Ped Mall in the fall on a Saturday night. Midnight is just getting started for these kids.

If they were partying and chasing girls they would have incredible endurance for late nights.
