If we had one less loss, this B1G semifinal

If the selection committee (historically) put more into the result of the B1G final round, I’d agree. It seems they almost disregard it. Given that it ends so close to the selection show, I can almost see why. Having said that, if there were ever a year to be able to wait on it, this would be the one. If IA wins B1G Tourney, they’re a one seed and Illinois is a two. If not, Illinois is a one and IA a two. If Ohio State gets in the championship, that’s where it could get a bit fuzzier. I’d say they’re still a two seed even if they win the B1G Tourney, however.

For IA to move to a one seed over Illinois, they’d probably have to beat Illinois pretty good (by like ten points). That’s a pretty heavy lift.

To be able to even have this conversation is pretty great.

They'd have to beat Michigan, too, IMHO.
It looks like we'll most likely be the #2 in Baylor's region, and after their game vs. OSU yesterday, I feel a lot better about that...

Shoot, Iowa State played Baylor down to the wire. Having all that time off really hurt them.

I remember when the schedules came out and everyone pointed out that we only got one game against Illinois and it was away. I think if we could have got the home and home with a healthy CJ we would have split. Hell, with a healthy CJ we easily could have won the away game.

The thing that’s always so disappointing to me in these threads is the committee is supposed to take injuries into account and I almost never see anyone acknowledge that nearly all of our losses came when we were missing an all-BIg10 level player.

That would be nice, of any likely S16/E8 game, Baylor has the worst defense, which should bode well down the road.

This is true, but it applies to the other teams as well. Illinois won several big games without Ayo. Yes, Frederick is good but calling him an all-Big 10 level player is a stretch. He is nowhere near the player that Ayo is. I believe Frederick made honorable mention all-conference for either the coaches or media team.

If Iowa were to win the BTT, they would give the committee something to think about in terms of a #1 seed. But Illinois has just been so good. Winning at Michigan by 23, at Ohio State and at Wisconsin. Of course, Iowa's resume is very good also with wins at OSU, @Wisconsin.

As others have said, the committee tends to not value conference tournaments all that much in making huge swings on seed lines. Iowa seems pretty locked into a 2 seed. Which is a great place to be.

Can you assume that Michigan is going to beat Ohio State today?....I'm not so sure that you can.
No. But I also don’t think beating OSU in the Final would give Iowa a #1 seed, either. I think they need to beat Illinois AND match the Illini’s best win of the year for a CHANCE at the #1.
