If you have Roku tell me how much you like/dislike it?

It's built in to a TV I bought from costco, and I use it some. It works fine, and I've used it for Amazon Prime video and WatchESPN without issue, but I'm not a cord cutter who uses it for everything.

comment on their competition, of which I know nothing about

I have never used the competition, but I like my Roku. I don't actually use many of the built-in channels, other than Netflix. I've used YouTube some but it's kind of slow and cludgy. Mainly, I have media streaming software called PLEX -- which is absolutely great -- and I use it on my Roku to watch movies, TV shows, home videos, etc. PLEX also has built-in channels that somewhat duplicate Roku, but they generally work better than Roku's native channels.

I have one of the lower-end models, which is WiFi. The only issue is sometimes (not very often) things will get slow or pixilated. I suspect if you went with a higher-end version that includes an Ethernet jack the performance would be better. A lot of that will depend upon your home networking.

I like mine. I mainly watch Amazon and Netflix on it. I am a cord cutter. I also watch some of the news apps and Yahoo, but thats about it. There are a lot of crappy apps with old TV and movies, etc. I am not sure Roku has a future when most new TV's have amazon and netflix and other services pre-loaded.

I have a Roku, Chromecast, and an Amazon Fire stick. They are all pretty good devices, but at this point I prefer the Chromecast. Searching through apps for content on my phone is much quicker.

Same here except I like the Fire stick the best. Voice search from phone is nice and I watch a lot of Prime Video so it lends itself well to that.

Someone earlier mentioned Plex which is a great app for your downloaded media streaming.
