Our AD is new, and he's done more for the facilities and programs in three years than the past two AD's did their entire tenure. Enjoy looking up at the standings at us. It's going to be commonplace in the future -- just like how it's always been.
Hilarious that a team that's won like 4 tourney games since the turn of the century and hasn't been to a final 4 in 4 decades can pretend to be relevant.

This has been the worst 14 year stretch in the entire 110+ year history of Illinois basketball (by far) and during that time we have finished on average one place above them in the conference. I think we’ve won one more tourney game during this period which includes six straight years of them missing the tourney altogether.
They fired two coaches during this period and most here are ready to shower our ten year coach with bonuses and extensions.
All this is to say we should probably ease up on the “delusional” talk.

Illinois fans may not have reached the level of delusion as Indiana basketball fans or Nebraska football fans, but after several years of finishing in the bottom tier of the B1G Ten, Illinois fans expecting us to be green with envy over one season of them finishing 4th in the conference can eat a dick. I'm sorry, but what are Iowa's recent basketball accomplishments? You keep pretending they exist, but you haven't won the B10 in 41 years. You have made it past the second round 1x since 2000.. ONCE.
You're delusional if you think there's a gap between us. Your coach is as mediocre as they come in the Big Ten. You don't get recruits. You can't finish seasons. You can't play defesne. You're soft. And none of this will change with Francis coaching.
I do hope you stay healthy though. It's all just fun and games on here, but I wish no ill toward any of you, except for 2hrs a handful of times each year.

My point, and only point, is Illinois has been mostly bad this past decade at the two major sports and shouldn't be bragging after winning one of the last five or six against Iowa. Back to back tied for third place (really 5th place) finishes in the Big Ten in ‘15 and ‘16 (good for two 7 seeds LOL).
Not even kidding... that is one of the things fans point to when trying to laud the incredible tenure of Fran McCaffery.
So if you’re keeping track:
1. Back to back (tied for) third place league finishes five years ago.
2. Four NCAA appearances in ten years (average seed = 9).
3. Three NCAA wins in ten years.
4. Not Todd Likliter.
5. Decent football team
That’s the hard evidence proving beyond a shadow of a doubt why Iowa basketball is so much better than Illinois basketball. Gaze on our works, ye mighty, and despair!

I’m old. I remember the Davis teams. I know what Iowa basketball can be. So when I see fans lionizing our program and Fran while Wisconsin jogs to yet another league title it drives me absolutely freaking crazy. Now Illinois is resurgent.
