Illinois is terrible...

Illinois isn't great, but Purdue is well rested.....Illinois is playing for a third day in a row.

Upsets happen in these tournaments every year. Nebraska isn't any good, yet they just beat a Wisconsin team that had been playing as well as anyone in the Big 10 over the past month. Same with Michigan over Indiana.

Bracket is wide open for Purdue. Michigan will be playing it's 3rd game in 3 days tomorrow. Against Purdue's size that could mean disaster for Michigan. Plus if this score holds there's going to be a lot of easy minutes for Purdue which is huge in these conference tournaments. Iowa has just pissed away so many chances this year and here's another one.

Iowa always gets upset.

Illinois right now is 1-7 from three.... Why did we ever go zone when instead just play man and have them try and shoot over us.
They are 1-7 because Purdue is playing good d. We let guys drive by us and gave up wide open 3's to guys on the kick out. Or let maverick Morgan have his way in the pick and roll game. Purdue is playing with the type of intensity that we needed to play with the entire game, not just the last 3 minutes.

Teams with tired legs don't normally shoot well. A team like Illinois needed to rebound well today to have a chance today and it's tough to do that vs a team like Purdue.

They have had several wide open threes that they haven't made...they made them yesterday...until that stretch in the last 6 minutes.

Spin it anyway you want. If Iowa wasn't feeling embarrassed yesterday, maybe the magnitude of that fail will set in today. And hey, lllinois was playing its second game in two days yesterday while the mighty Hawkeyes were coming in fresh as a daisy.

Purdue will win this about 100-50. It's only 60-30 now with 13:47 to go. I'd ask Fran what he thinks about that, but it's none of my business.

Can't argue any of that.

Teams also play better the second day in a row of a tournament due to getting the feel of the surroundings. By day 3 they're dead tired.

It didn't help our cause that Minnesota was a sh** show and did absolutely nothing to push and gas Illinois for the game yesterday. Illinois wasn't lacking any energy from their first game because they didn't have to use it all up.

Against a better team, they were forced to run their tank dry and now against a tougher opponent, there's nothing left and all the John Groce try hard antics won't save his team from elimination.

I blame Minnesota for our loss and Purdue should thank us for actually pushing the Illini and losing so they could have an easier game.

I blame everyone on team but JU and Jok. Just pathetic.

I'd agree. Everyone knew Illinois was a bad team yesterday. Losing today doesn't change anything.....

It's not that surprising.
I don't buy any of the excuses offered.
illanoy is the same team they were the day before.
The difference is the opponent.
One is tanking, one is trending up. Not hard to tell which is which.

Illinois was able to beat the Iowa zone defense by raining
three pointers from downtown. They also got some easy
buckets under the rim because they back- doored our zone.

Coach Fran did not play man to man defense because he
did not want to wear out our starting five. Bad decision!!!
We got beat by Illinois who had more bench talent than Iowa.
