I see that the Illini's top recruit, 5 Star 6'10" Jeremiah Tilmon, has asked for release from his national letter of intent.

Sounds like some shady stuff going on with him. Missouri may have contacted him while he was still signed with Illinois. Martin was at his high school, but supposedly only their to see his sister (martin's sister), who teaches there. If I read it right on twitter.I see that the Illini's top recruit, 5 Star 6'10' Jeremiah Tilmon, has asked for release from his national letter of intent.
I don't know that Martin is, let's say, playing with a different set of rules. It just feels as though he is. You would think that Missouri would have been ultra-careful after the Quinn Snyder episode.

After the short lived disaster that was the Kim Anderson regime, I think their ready to jump back into the frying pan. Besides Mizzou is in the SEC now so how bad can it beI don't know that Martin is, let's say, playing with a different set of rules. It just feels as though he is. My (tongue in cheek ) was basically about the SEC apparent acceptance of skirting or at least bending the rules, hence Martin should fit right in.Taking what you say (tongue in cheek), The SEC is on the verge of becoming the third best P5 BB conference. The ACC is king, then the B1G. The SEC could overtake the Big 12. Kentucky BB is the blueblood and Florida has made itself a mainstay. South Carolina has been very good lately and Arkansas is ever improving. If Avery Johnson gets Alabama going and Bruce Pearl makes Auburn respectable, CM is going to have to learn to coach better, better than just recruiting well.![]()

There are some that would find it difficult to put Bruce Pearl and respectable in the same sentence.
There is nothing wrong with what Tilmon is doing. The problem is Missouri. Martin is an ok coach. I think because of Martin's antics, Missouri could very well end up on a blocked list when they release Tilmon. Which means he will probably end up at KU or Saint Louis.
I see what you did there...Maybe Martin will have a spot for his sister on his staff?![]()
Kentucky is really big into that winning thing tho. What has Cuonzo Martin ever won?Is Martin significantly younger than Calipari? He seems like the type to take over at KY when Calipari retired.
He won a play in game a few years ago while at Tennessee...Kentucky is really big into that winning thing tho. What has Cuonzo Martin ever won?
Hurts a lot because this is a position of dire need for the Illini. Still... wasn't ever clear if he would qualify academically, and in 10 months he went from a 5* recruit to third team all area (ESL). Kids who want to be el$where are never good for team chemistry.
Tough for Illinois because we could very well go 0-3 for the best trio (Tilmon, Goodwin, Smith) that has come out of St. Louis metro area in many, many years.
Underwood will figure it out but these are tough times to be an Illini fan.
Enjoy...
