I'm not a conspiracy theory kinda guy but....

--------Throw in some head scratcher drops by receivers

Our drops haven't been head scratchers in years....we have bad receivers.

I really don't think you're that far off - I've had the discussion w/ friends and family that this season (and others before it) are all part of the Ferentz master plan.....He's not a dumb man and knows that chasing wins in college football is a recipe for a short career. If you win 10 games a year, people wonder why you can't win the other 2. So, Ferentz dumbs down games they "should" win (like Purdue) and when they don't, he can blame execution etc.....When the big boys (MI, PSU, OSU) roll into town he makes Harbaugh, Meyer, etc look like fools by doing things out of the norm.

The current "phase" of the plan is to maintain bowl eligibility (6-8 wins), show progress along the way and when the time is right put up another 10+ win season and hand the keys over to Brian when no one is looking - It's worked for almost 20 years and is the recipe for career longevity at Iowa.........

Call me crazy. :-0
OK....you're crazy. What a bunch of drivel. I can see why you have over a thousand posts and only six likes. ;) I kind of think you're just joking, because I don't believe you could find friends or family that would engage in this twaddle.

Wanna talk conspiracy theories? Why, would the only AD in America give a 9 year extension to a football coach that is average and mediocre?
In January 2015, coming off a 7-6 season and the 45-28 loss to Tennessee, Barta said, “Don’t think there weren’t a lot of people who wanted me fired and wanted Coach fired last year and the last couple of years" And then, hardly a year and a half later, gives Ferentz a ridiculous contract. Is Barta getting a piece of the pie? It defies logic and common sense. A 15 year old high school kid would have had more on the ball than Barta.
Really? A 15 yr. old high school kid would have more on the ball? Lol. The ignorant hyperboles just never end here.

Post of the season! That was great ;-)

Incredible Hawk nailed it. I have felt this way for nearly over 10 yrs now.
Also believe it's fixed by the conferences or TV or whatever on some games late in the season.

Wait until the conference basketball season. Now there is a venue for rigged games. The officials do it but Big Ten basketball has a low threshold of institutional integrity.

A few things seemed "odd" about Saturday's game. You all will, I'm sure, laugh at me about this post. Heck, I'm laughing at myself. But here we go anyway.

During the first few minutes of the game, when the commentators were making their typical comments about why this game matters when it really doesn't, they talked about Purdue needing this win to make the next week's game vs Indiana a battle for bowl eligibility. Several minutes later, they talked more about the Indiana-Purdue game and it wasn't "if Purdue wins today" it was stated as a fact that that game would be for bowl eligibility. This was still early in the 1st quarter with Purdue up 7-0 and it was like they knew Purdue was going to win. At the time it struck me as strange.

Then, later I was texting with my brother and, looking back on it, I had texted "It's almost like we're throwing the game.". The offensive line play was, quite literally, unbelievably bad. Numerous times we just left a defender unblocked while an O lineman blocked no one...or made a feeble attempt to engage someone that was already blocked. It looked like they were just trying to look busy while ignoring their assignment.

Throw in some head scratcher drops by receivers, lack of utilization of TE's and what may have been the worst punting in a D1 football game this year, and it's hard not to wonder.

Do I believe the outcome was pre-determined? Nope. Does what I saw and heard seem strange? Yep.

OK, flame away, but remember...I'm not buying this either. I just thought it was strange.
I am a conspiracy theorist and I think it's all rigged and I think
OSU tanked the game against iowa

If you look closely, you can see that guy chewing gum and writing on a note pad.

It was typical Kirk execution as the plan was to take out Texas Gov John Connally but Kirk misfired and got JFK instead. It was reported afterwards that 'some things needed to be cleaned up'.

then why bring it up?

Gotta love conspiracy theories. Moon landing, flat earth, 9/11, holocaust - a common theme is that no one spends too much time on "why" or "how" these massive conspiracies are pulled off and can be kept "undercover" even when dozens, hundreds or thousands of people are involved.

Now IncredibleHawk suggests that KF is losing games on purpose, so he can extend his career, manage expectations and hand the keys to his son. So, at least he addresses the "why", even though his explanation makes no sense. If he'd won all those games he tanked, wouldn't he have more wins and further secure a long career?

The B1G - using officials to fix games. Why and how come to mind. Why would the B1G have it in for Iowa? And, how do they fix the games? Does Delaney just decide himself? Or, do they have a meeting in a conference room in Chicago, decide who they want to win a particular game, then call the officials? Or, do they meet in some clandestine location with a bag of money?

None of this makes any sense to me.
