In a 6 point game, THAT FOUR POINT SEQUENCE by THE REFS cost N'western

The refs miss the offensive goal tending by the Zags, which cost N'western 2 points. The Zag defender's arm came UP THRU THE BASKET TO BLOCK THE SHOT.

Would have been a dead ball.

Instead, the the Zags go the other way, and Chris Collins gets T'd up, giving the Zags 2 points off the FTs.

A four point swing all because of poor officiating, in a 6 point game. Changed the entire game and perhaps the entire ending.

Cats got striped!! Unfreaking believable. They almost got Whisky too! Are these junior high refs....The bias in these tournaments is sickening!

Now their fans know who we felt after the refs decided not to throw any flags against them in football this year like the obvious face mask on beathard. Feel no pity for them.

It sure took the wind out of Northwestern's sails. Any momentum they had at that point was gone.
I won't go so far as to say it cost them the game, but they were rolling until that non-call/call.

The game, with that 4 point gift from the refs, was a 6 point game for quite a while, until the very end.

Take away that 4 point sequence and it would have instead have been a 2 point game until the final horn.

The Zags were choking and the Cats had all the momentum.

That call did a ton of damage.

You just can't miss that call. Unfortunately Collins had already worn out the refs ear so the immediate T compounded the issue.

Collins had every right to have worn out those ears. That crew did not have a good game.

I have been watching the Xavier vs. FSU game, but the cut in highlights showed the officials blew the call; however, Chris Collins cost his team by charging onto the court like a maniac. Of course, he was met with the BIG T instantly. The coach needs to control his emotions.

Yeah, players have to maintain their sanity and so should coaches

Had you watched the entire game you may not be so critical. It was a poorly officiated game, mostly favoring Gonzaga.

Collins tried to get a T earlier in an attempt to defend his kids and I think spur momentum change. Refs wouldn't give it to him.

A lot of stuff happened to get him to that point.

And humans are human.

I am not trying to be critical of him. He made a decision and acted on it. I was merely pointing out how he cost his team and not the officials.

I have really enjoyed watching 11 seed Xavier wear out the vaunted ACC representative 3 seed FSU.

Collins summed it up saying that when you get down that much that early that it requires an incredible effort to come back. They almost did.

Guys, refs don't determine the winner of games. They have no effect on the outcome. At least that's what I've been told numerous times here anyway.

How do they miss that, then compound it by issuing the T?

NCAA issued a statement. Is there any chance this crew will be replaced for any other games they were scheduled?

Can you imagine the press beatdown if that had been Fran??????

Yeah, there's always someone here who says if we'd done things right before the refs error then it wouldn't have mattered

This.
I've been very lucky with jobs and income. If my income was largely affected by the decisions of 17-18 year olds and then compomised by officials i think its possible i'd be in jail.
Not only would i get a t, kicked out, but i'd kill somebody hurting my family and team.

whether it cost them the game or not .... that was some horse crap officiating the entire game...

And it's time to deflate the NW chubby going on anyway......the chubby has a bit or a smell of Dukiness all around it. Not that I am fan of the Zags either but the smell of Dukiness is not good. It's time....enough of NW plus the Hawks are still playing BB and the Cats are done.

Click bait.

Humans are emotional creatures. Coaches are human, as are refs. This missed call was the straw that broke Collins' back.

Had Collins been given a T earlier in the half, when he was really working for it (and would have been okay with it), then he would have most likely not have reacted the same way after the missed basket interference call.

There's a lot of nuance, and at the moment of the missed call, none of it favored Collins being able to control himself. Coaching is not easy—it's sure as hell a lot easier from the armchair.

You'd be that coach that stalks referees. Follows them into restaurant bathrooms and shit.

I think sports fans need a dark comedy movie about this. You know, something cathartic.
