Nebby / Wisky just out of the break, don't know the score. Graphics and announcers too expensive for a student broadcast I guess.

Maryland at Minny just started on BTN.

Any details on Welch getting pinned? He looked like a horse at The Midlands.

What happened to Minny? I only started following wrestling two years ago and they were top 10. Graduate some guys?

Graduated a ton and recruiting hasn't kept up. They were preseason #1 last year and finished closer to 10th.

Where do they normally recruit? It would seem that a Top 10 program could keep up unless the areas in which they recruit are being poached.

It can be seen on BTN2GO with a subscription.
The pin surprised me. Takedown, then muscled a cradle, and over, and boom in 3 more seconds. 1:56
Many at PSU feel that Rasheed would be further along if he wasn't injured his redshirt year. He was know to have a monster cradle in HS, so this was no fluke win.

I'm not so sure Moss might not just be "the guy" by March. JG is way overrated.

That 5th place finish at nationals last year and those silly wins over Cory Clark, Zane Richards, Ryan Taylor, et. al. really fooled people into thinking he ain't half bad.

I think Mitch is talking about this year. This year Jimmy has looked terrible up at 141. Moss has looked pretty good. Wasn't Jimmy 1-2 at the Scuffle. Considering at one point this year he was the #1 ranked guy at 141, Mitch's "overrated" claim seems pretty accurate to me.

Correct... what the hell does last years' results @ 133 have to do with this years' results @ 141? The correct answer is... nothing.

I think Guilbon is capable if he gets his head right...looks like your coach agrees.

It stinks we don't have a 165lber separating himself. It is about as weak a weight I have seen in some time. Sadly I could see Rasheed put together a good run at NCAAs and score as many points as Brooks. Where if Brooks was at 165 and Rasheed at 184 I could see Brooks scoring 20 points and Rasheed most likely only a couple.

That could still happen but I guess what I am saying is I wish we had a guy of Brooks talent at a weight like 165 instead of 184.

I guess on the flip side PSU's 184 at 165 would probably be a top 5 guy and he will probably not score much points so...

The torches and pitchforks were out on the Penn State boards after the Scuffle. Cooler heads came to the same conclusion as you, with the caveat that a 4x PA champ shouldn't be having head issues in his 4th year in the room.

Did they graduate more guys than us?
MN graduated 5 all Americans last season and 4 the year prior. The "blue chip" recruits in Short, Wanzek and Kingsley have not necessarily had blue chip results. Near misses on other top notch recruits lead to the current state of the program. Something many programs love to have, but not something that meets the standard set by gopher alum.

Iowa graduated 5 last year and also had near misses with some top notch recruits. One program looks like the dumpster fire is in full blaze.

That Rasheed looks like could be another Ruth, tall with long arms and dam quick.

That cradle last night should scare the crap out of 165.
I would be a little more worried about Bo Jordan ripping my arm out of my socket or my crotch apart than someone cradling me.

And Ed Ruth's strength is what put him into another stratosphere.

Moved up a weight and is having a hard time with wrestlers which are taller and stronger, also being #1 start of season and now not even ranked. I think quite a few people are thinking he isn't AA material.

He's just not a 141 I actually thought he was decent at 133 I don't think it was a fluke that he placed and made the semis last year but now up a weight I think all his weaknesses have gotten exploited

Yet here we both are watching PSU and Ohio State hold the trophy. If Iowa's goal is to be better than Minnesota congrats.

It's amazing that PSU is able to continually find scholly money for top guys, would love to see how that accounting is working.

Sorry boys, but we aren't beating line-ups like that anytime soon. Wrestling is turning just like Football, where programs in high population, talent-rich areas will have a huge advantage. In-state tuition when only 9.9 scholly's available is a huge advantage.

It's always been a huge advantage, but Little ol' Iowa found a way to win a shitload of Titles, others can too.

Nate Jackson just knocked off Nickel. Took a 6-2 lead after the 1st and barely survived.

Meh, not so huge. It's a help for depth, not a big help for the top guys.

If I'm not mistaken, this so-called "not so huge" advantage was one of the main reasons Cael went to PSU in the first place. Also, this so-called "not so huge" advantage was pitched to Cael by the PSU AD and fans to get Cael to come to Happy Valley. And this so-called not so huge" advantage accounts for the difference between Cael's Iowa State teams and Cael's PSU teams.

It's a huge advantage!

Silly me, I thought David Taylor and Ed Ruth had something to do with it. And that vacation spot of Ames, Iowa is irresistible to people raised in civilization and looking for an education. You'd win troll of the month but this is a bit over the top. Thanks for playing.

Would that be the same Ames, Iowa that David Taylor originally committed to.....................................? Just saying.

Ames was voted the best college town in the U.S...so don't knock it. Also, being in PA and being Cael is a huge advantage. He might have been a 4 timer and an Olympic champ but this is still Gable's and Iowa's state. Cael couldn't compete in state so he left his own alma mater and headed East. Smart move being near PA, NJ, Ohio, and NY.
