In-Out Burger Question…..

Whataburger is ass.
What-a-burger burgers are solid… their fries are damn near McDonald's quality…where what-a-burger kicks the competition is the two times a year when they offer the Dr.Pepper shakes/malts! (The second best malt/shake offering…second only to the “red cake malt” offered by those hot dog folks…Portello’s..)

The first time I had Whataburger it was fantastic. The next 2 times were yuck. I haven’t gone back but I’m also not often near one. Portillo’s has been fantastic every time I’ve gone
It's hard to get past yuck experiences. We have a popeye's that went up a mile from our house that we would get chicken from every so often. Wretched, slow, horrible service each time. A couple of times that literally didn't have any chicken, and wouldn't have any for another 20 minutes. But it was tasty so we went back. That is, until we get chicken that tasted like it had turned. It was the epitome of yuck. Haven't been back since.

I went 3 or 4 times with a friend when we would go down for SXSW. Each time I wondered why we ever went there. It never lived up to the hype.

When I moved to Texas in 1990 Whataburger was good. Now the original founding family has sold it off to somebody in Chicago. Now it is not so good. I see that they are in Kansas City now, they are trying to Branch out. I heard mahomes had something to do with KC expansion.

I only ate at Steak and Shake once when we lived in the QC because those shoestring fries are so awful. They tasted like those things in a can. Absolute trash.
Steak and shake came into Texas about 25 years ago... It wasn't bad but it did start going downhill. Those fries are really about the same as Freddy's to me. But steak and shake started really taking a dive financially and they closed most of the restaurants here.
