Not selling my model S. I bought it in August 2015 and I will drive it into the ground. I originally hoped it would go 5+ years, now hoping for 15.

And yes, Musk sucks. But the car is great and I have no reason to pay for another one just because a CEO went off the deep end.

I’ve driven the X, Y and 3. Like 3 the best of them. That said, I’ve also driven the Lucid Air and it blows Tesla away. I’m interested to see if their SUV does decent when it releases this fall. Then if it goes more mainstream when they release a more affordable sedan and SUV in a couple of years. They are far nicer inside unlike the barebones Tesla.

They’ve never attempted to switch over four plants on three continents before. I doubt any auto manufacturer has ever done it before. Likely a world first. They’ll get production ramped up on the refreshed Model Y here soon.

Just another lesson not to just automatically believe the headlines of corporate media.

My buddy has a Lucid and agree it is a blast to drive. More luxurious than my model S, albeit the new Model S seems to have a bit more advanced tech than the Air. I am really rooting for Lucid as I could easily see that as my next car. Just a bit worried about company viability as I drive my cars for life and I want to make sure they are around for parts/maintenance down the road. They need to turn a corner on cash flow at some point. Hopefully they are around in 5 years or so when I’m ready to buy.

Probably not all of them, but when the CEO is a polarizing as Musk has been the last 12-24 months, its bound to have some blowback. Not different than the My Pillow Guy losing business because of all his blathering. Probably best to keep your politics quiet when you're trying to sell a product to a large group of people.

Usually 15-20 minutes for me. I don’t typically charge from E or empty to Full like a gas tank. You charge from like 10-15% up to 75 or 80% and keep going to the next charging location if on a road trip. The bottom 70% being charged is way faster than the top 20% due to physics.

So mainly just charge the fast part and don't charge the slow part. Don’t need to.

👍🏻 Depends on use case. People have asked me whether they should buy a Tesla and I always ask them, “What will you be using it for primarily?”

If someone has a garage and can get a home charger installed AND the vehicle will be mostly used for daily driving short distances, then go for it. It is a good value for money purchase. You’ll see $30-$40 per month in electricity costs to charge/operate it and next to no maintenance expense. Tires last 30K-50K miles depending how you drive it. That’s the big expense.

Battery pack replacement is overblown. They should last 250K-300K miles on the packs they make these days. Battery cell costs are coming way down so replacing it in 10 years might only be like $10K all in. Currently about $17K. Teslas come with 120K miles battery pack warranty.

If you drive 400-500 miles a day like The Tradition says he does for his job, don’t do it. You’ll regret it. Or if you need to tow or haul long distances, don’t do it.
