In What World Is Baylor Better Than Us?

Baylor would get killed. Their offense wouldn't know what to do against a real defense and our offense would kill them because they don't play defense.

Iowa v Baylor resume is a black & gold bloodbath

Well, sports radio 810 world in KC for one. One guy said, "Does anyone think Baylor wouldn't beat Iowa by 10-14 on a neutral field?" Others agreeing, saying of course not. Doubt any of them have watched a minute of Iowa football.

I think if the teams played 5 times Baylor would win at least 3, probably 4. And I've watched both teams for well over a minute.

TCU would be another story. I think the Hawks would win a majority of games against the Toads.

The best team ISU has played this year is Oklahoma, and it isn't even close. But Stoops has an uncanny ability to not show up some Saturdays. Witness the Texas game.

Thanks for sharing that. Really entertaining. Always fun to see another fan base full of idiots

College sports are the absolute best. It's like people lose all rational sense. The majority of the talk was how using records of opponents doesn't make sense... If that's the case why even play the games at all?

What's the marquee non-conference win for the Big 12? Those teams are better just because you say so?

If an undefeated P5 ever were to get left out I think you just end the playoff at that point (assuming there isn't one in every conference). Just line up the preseason favorites in a 16 game tourney and make everybody else stay home. It sure would save a lot of time.

HA HA. More "eye test" stuff, I guess. There's not a team in the country that would beat Iowa 80% of the time, much less Baylor. I don't think they looked that good against Kansas State OR Iowa State, so I don't know why you're slobbing on their knob like that.

I supposed if Iowa played Oklahoma 5 times, the Sooners would win 7 or 8.

Ironic. Who wants to bet, going back preseason many of these same posters had Iowa firing KF after another piss-poor season. Now it is all playoffs or bust baby! Talk about deluded fans.

Free Agency must have been incredible this year.

Yes just ignore the stats isu put up against Iowa and OU. Clone fans do.

Baylor has proven that when they play a physical team that has a defense ranked better than 50 they struggle. Of course we must ignore that Iowa has those attributes because......you guessed it clone fans say so.

I honestly have no idea how good Baylor really is, I guess we get a decent barometer this weekend. It really is hard to gauge some of this Big 12 teams. Are the offenses really that good, Are the defenses really that bad? I watched my first Baylor game when they played K-State, I thought their freshman QB played very well in his first start. I also envisioned Iowa running the ball against Baylor and thought they could really have a good chance of controlling the LOS and tempo in a game vs Baylor. In the end, I obviously can't say Iowa would beat Baylor for sure, I can say that I think our physical style of play would give us a helluva chance to have them worn down and take control in the 4th quarter.

I have watched both teams and honestly I think it's pretty hard to know who would win. Such different styles. I have no doubt Iowa could contain their offense more than most if not all Big 12 teams, but I don't know if we are better than them. I would give Baylor a slight edge. I'm pretty confident we would be able to stay close to them though. If they blow out OU and OSU I will concede, but I don't think they will. We'll see.

This is the same Baylor that lost their bowl game to Michigan state, lost their starting quarterback for the season, and can't beat anyone with a defense. I would LOVE to play Baylor or TCU or Oklahoma State for that matter.

Didn't Baylor put up 41 points and almost 600 yards against the top D in the country(MSU) last year? I think they know what to do against a real defense. And no, Iowa is not close to the #1 defense in the country. Yes I realize MSu made the miracle comeback and won by 1.

Yes Baylor moved pretty much at will on MSU last year, lost on some missed field goals. But MSU scored 42 on them which was above their Big 10 average. Doesn't matter what Baylor is ranked because Oklahoma will probably paste them Saturday anyway. Their freshman QB looked ok last week but that is a steep drop-off from Russell.

And THIS YEAR (you know, the stuff that's actually relevant right now), they finally stepped all the way up to the #83 ranked total defense last week....and were held to half their season average in points and only won by 7.

The problem is Baylor, TCU and Oklahoma all beat ISU worse than Iowa so until KF starts putting up style points like Stoops did we'll have to listen to sh$t. That's the knock- every FBS team we've beat this year (even North Texas) someone else has beaten them worse. That's why you hear words like "consistent", " "fundamental", "mistake-free" ALWAYS used by national media to describe us. And while those adjectives sound great to us, to everyone else I know it means we can't put the pedal down. Doesn't matter one bit in the rankings or our playoff chances, just saying that's why we get called out.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Baylor lose to both Oklahoma schools.

In what world? MAYBE on the football field. Given that we don't play each other, you must analyze the data. All of that objective information says Iowa is better this year SO FAR. Anything stated otherwise is simply subjective conjecture.

a world where defense is played and dont end with arena ball scores.

I liked the one line about how they would beat us by three touchdowns on a neutral field AND decent weather :D

A world where they lost their QB. They can score points. They did well against MSU last year. I think the question is if our secondary can contain those receivers? That's a very good group.

A world where every play is a broken play touchdown.

THAT's boring football, Mr. Galloway. Knowing the outcome of every play is yet another touchdown.

I'll bet Mr. Galloway is the same kind of stereotypical, thick-headed American that hates soccer because they "don't score enough."

But Iowa doesn't exist in that world, so we'll never know. With their starting QB, I think Iowa-Baylor would be a good game. I wouldn't be surprised if either team won. Iowa would score more than we normally do, and surrender more than we normally do. I like our chances to outscore them, but who knows? I give Baylor slim to no chance to beat us in their current state. And I fully expect OU to demolish them this weekend. OU needs to win out, and with flair, to have a shot at the playoffs. Pantsing a top ten team will really get them going.

Iowa would beat anyone and everyone from the Big 12 8 out of 10 times.
Agreed for the most part. I think the OkSU series would be close to 50/50 either way. They play a decent defense.

OU would beat us 8/10 times. They are legit. Best team in the B12. That they lost to Texas just shows the power of rivalries. It's almost an annual tradition that the better team loses that game.

it is weird they are bagging on indiana and Iowa winning by 8 when they beat a three win kansas state by 7 a couple days prior (and scoring less points in the process, but I am guessing that is because Kansas State has one of the best defenses in the country, amirite?)

Have all those accounts been created since 2011? I still have a hard time separating how truly awful that program was pre RG3 and Briles.
