Apologies if this has been posted somewhere already. I see we have 14 current commits and there are a few outstanding targets. We currently have at least 21 players that will be leaving (eligibility is done) and that does not include K2 that will probably be gone and the others that are buried on the depth chart and my decide to go elsewhere. Is the plan to start targeting more portal players or try and steal some more Mac level recruits that have panned out for us in the past? Just seems that we will have quite a few holes to fill compared to where we are currently sitting.

Recruiting under an older HC will always be a struggle.
You just know his age is brought up by other schools.
Didn't think about this until just now, but isn't this one of the benefits of NIL in that you can go to a P4 conference and learn/play and even if the older coach decides to retire in a year or two you can just portal out to somewhere else and take all of the knowledge/strength/food. In the pre-NIL timeframe that might have been more of an issue.

The plan is as always.

KF will try to sabotage Iowa football, but he will be foiled by all the players trying hard and winning 8-10 games.

DRAT!!!!!!!!
If Iowa wins eight or more games next season, it will be a minor miracle. Replace 2024 games with Northwestern, @Maryland, Washington, and @UCLA with 2025 games against Penn State, @Rutgers, Indiana, and @USC and you’ve got a recipe for disaster.

Why would you offer him a scholarship? He’s been bad at quarterback, granted just like every other quarterback since 2020 not named Sullivan. He can hand the ball off and throw short passes to Kaleb Johnson.
The coaches say he has the best arm on the team. As incentive to come to Iowa, he quite likely was offered a scholarship as soon as one came available, which is next semester.

Nick Jackson is a walking talking testimant to what the experience of transferring to Iowa can be. He seems to be a phenomenal ambassador, and hopefully he can offer some quite sound advice for anyone thinking about what the experience coming to Iowa may be like! He quickly became one of my all time favorites and I love that he considers himself a lifetime Virginia Cavalier AND Hawk!!

He will never take another meaningful snap as an Iowa Hawkeye, and people think we should put him on scholarship?!! He was never going to be offered a scholarship. And if he is and plays minutes next year we are looking at a three win Iowa football team.
Him having the best arm is more of an indictment of Brian Ferentz than anything.

Ok Coach… WTF 🤬?

??? Disaster? Rutgers is 4-5 in B1G play. When have they beat Iowa or really been a concern? It totally remains to be seen what Indiana is next year with most all of their transfers gone. They lost handily to the only really good team they played this year and we play at Kinnick. USC? Whatever. PSU at Kinnick. We beat them at home more often the not, and they always have the better roster. I'll bet our offense is better next season, the defense will be better then people think, and special teams will be top notch. Lets play the games.....

Don’t forget we play a Michigan State team that dominated the line of scrimmage this year. You really think Iowa is going out to the Colosseum and beating USC? Oregon, Indiana, and Penn State have been crushing teams. I’ll have what this guy is having. We play at Iowa State too.

Did you actually watch ANY B1G games this season? Hell Oregon could very well have lost at 5-7 Wisconsin. Indiana lost to the one really good team they played and lose a LOT. Pretty much NO ONE played consistently from one game to the next. NO ONE, and here we are 9 months until we kick off next season, and your loading up the loss column. Must be fun having your outlook.

And as far as the ISWho game I believe the visiting team has won the last 4 or 5 matchups so what does that mean....

Do you watch football? Can you see how compromised the offense is right now? They literally cannot throw the football. It’s Kaleb Johnson and pray right now.
It certainly was the other night. It looked more like last year than any other game this year. Worse actually.

He made a commitment to walk-on for Iowa and has filled a void at QB. Could be a little better than he appears, since they were playing close to the vest. Couldn't afford to get him hurt and was played more of a game manager. He probably could have called a better game than the coaches did. You're right though, he likely won't play anymore, but he helped them in a time of need and is probably more deserving than a few other stiffs that are sitting on the bench.

I don't know about those nevers. While I think Sully likely starts the bowl game, it isn't a done deal at this point in time.

The bottom line here is that your opinion of Stratton's ability is irrelevant (as is mine) regarding whether he should go on scholarship. Lester watched Stratton's high school film and went to SoCal specifically to watch him throw. He was sufficiently impressed to invite Stratton to join the team and has said he throws the ball better than anyone on the roster. Scholarships will open after this semester and next year the Hawks will have 20 more available with the new 105 player roster rules. I'd wager Stratton was offered a prospective scholarship only because Lester had none available with the Hawks already maxed out at 85.

Right now the Hawks have three QBs (Sully, Marco, and Shaggy) with Cade MIA. They add two freshmen and need to bring in a transfer.

Nebby DL shut us down cold Friday. If KJ couldn’t break free you know our blocking scheme was for shit.
Simple rule walking down the street...if you see a wall, go around it, don't try to go through it. The only reason he scored was they got him outside on a little pass and second level guys couldn't take him down.

Yup, our play calling is so oddly geared to keep D with 10 in the box and we do nothing to make them think twice. And, when we do get something to work we never go back to it again!
