Indiana loss meaningless?

Do you think Iowa would have gotten in by beating Indiana and losing to Wisconsin? A win over Indiana wouldn't have really moved them up much, and there were so many other bubble teams with big wins this week, Vandy beat Florida, Rhode Island just won their conference tournament, Xavier beat Butler, Kansas State beat Baylor, Seton Hall beat Marquette and barely lost to Villanova.

I really think Iowa would've had to do more to get on the right side of the bubble than beat Indiana.

I think it adds a Top 100 win, shows a 5 game winning streak (against decent competition) before a conference tourney loss to one of the better teams in the league. It also would have improved our RPI from 81-82 closer to like 75, which is much more reasonable and bumped our SOS up a bit.

I think we're in more of a 50/50 situation at this point with that win, as opposed to a 5% or so chance now.

Our RPI would not have improved to 75..it was already around 70. It would have pushed us to mid 60s instead of 81. Big difference in the end IMO. Hard to justify an RPI OF 81

I do now, didn't then. The experts were so wrong on us i bet we were in before that game with the committee, since we were first four out.1 seed in NIT.

If Iowa was only going to win one game in the B1G tournament they would have also needed to probably have won that Minnesota game in the regular season. That said Iowa needed atleast 2 wins in the B1G tournament. The B1G didnt get a ton of respect in the tournament and Iowa would have needed atleast 2 B1G tourny wins just to get past Syracuse as the first team out.

It makes you wonder. But with another win and especially a good showing against WI on top of our streak, I would think we'd make it ahead of Kansas State.

I think it's better than 50/50 that Iowa gets in with a win over Indiana. Iowa's road wins at Maryland and Wisconsin and 5 Top 34 RPI wins were more impressive than the rest of the bubble. Beating Indiana and Wisconsin would have pushed Iowa's RPI high enough where it would have been acceptable to be an at-large team.

Hopefully Iowa does well in the NIT. get the youth more tourney experience and PJ a good send off

When I had looked, RPI forecast had it projected at 75 after losing to Wisconsin. It looks like, all else equal, we would have actually ended at 70. It's a difference, but still pretty high.

Wonder how far Wisconsin would've fallen had they actually lost to us in the Qtrs and not in the Finals (which the NCAA awarded them an 8 seed as a result).

A 10 seed perhaps?..............

Or maybe they just wanted to make Villanova's road to repeating as champs tougher.....o_O

If they had beat Michigan would those two just have switched seeds?
How is Maryland a 6 and Wisky an 8, stuck with a second round game against the number 1 overall seed. I think Wisky has a shot in that game but chickened out on my bracket.

Wisky is better than most of the 6 and 7 seeds.

Here is a picture of the selection committee deep in thought over seedings.
