Looks like the weather is going to be pretty good for December 5th; somewhere around high 40s low 50s. Everyone planning on setting up shop outside or are most people going to bars?

I've never really been to downtown Indy and there's a bunch of stuff going on it sounds like, so I'll be making the rounds as opposed to tailgating.

Wondering the same. Been to Indy for the hoops tournament and obviously bars are the way to go, but didnt know if bars will have outdoor beer gardens for this or what the situation is for the champ game. Our hotel is right across from Lucas Oil so Ill be parking my car at the hotel Friday and wont see it again until Sunday.

I don't think there will be any outside beer gardens. There has not been in years past this weekend. Most places closed their outside areas weeks ago. 3 weekends ago it was 70 degrees here and a bar restaurant most likely to have outdoor seating with a huge fire pit said they closed the outside for the season. There will be tailgating but that will be limited. It is not the same tailgating in a parking lot or garage downtown.

Occasional for big events in Indy I just bring a 6 pack and walk around drinking, enjoying myself. Although I can tell you there will not as much foot traffic as say a final 4 or sweet 16. Most people will go to bars, before and after the game. One local hint I can tell you is look up drink specials online and ask for them. They won't tell you them because they want you spend (tip) more. Feel free to drink openly on the sidewalk but don't try to take drinks out the bar unless you specifically you ask for a to go cup. And PLEASE don't give money to pan handlers it makes the situation worse. I once offered some beers to a couple and one of them literally got out of his wheelchair to get one.
