Interesting bill proposed by the GQP in Iowa

Iowa's economy is the 5th slowest growing economy in the nation. Reynolds should be fired for her inability to do better than this.

It's becoming pretty clear that there is going to be a huge effort to turn every public University into giant MAGA producing factories since they think an educated population is the only reason liberal thinking exists. I'd blame Christianity for that, but whatever. At least that's what got it started. Obviously other things built on it.

Take note that they carved it out to protect ring counties of Polk for now, but made sure to squeeze Cedar in.
More big government overreach from the party of local control and small government.

“It's very impactful and very important for these areas to be represented by rural people,” said Sen. Dawn Driscoll, R-Williamsburg. “To me, it's not a political game at all. It is rural representation versus the urban.

Lots of farming in Polk County these days? Rural in Johnson County increasingly means a $600,000 house on a few acres.

Local Control! They're just so comprehensively full of shit.

In any event, I think at the most the Republicans would get 1 supervisor in Johnson county under such a plan. I would assume the districts still have to be based on population? And heavily Democratic Iowa City/Coralville/North Liberty are going to still swamp the rural areas, unless they try to fix it so the criteria is area instead of population. If they do that, they're looking at a rebellion.

I don't know what it will mean for Story or Black hawk counties.

Screw these jerks.

Cedar Rapids is in Linn County, not Cedar County.

Iowa is a shell of its former self. Sadly, I don’t see there being any kind of resurgence of critical thinking and progressive ideas returning to the state. I would love to be wrong, but Iowa has basically become Nebraska with a few more “large” metros.
