Since 1982, every time Iowa loses to Iowa State they also lose to Nebraska (if they were scheduled). I found this to be a pretty bizarre stat. Is it just coincidence, or does beating the Clowns allow us to springboard into the B1G season with confidence?

Coincidence, Iowa is usually a better team than ISU. Iowa did not used to play Nebby all that often so those are just random occurences. A better Iowa team losing to ISU in the same year as Iowa losing to NEbby might be considered more of a fluke that ISU beat us that year.

Likely. I would assume that the past 15 years, the Clowns and Bugeaters are similar in terms of football style and mediocrity. So if we beat one team, the other isn't too difficult for us either.

In the KF era, '01 and '02 are the only seasons in which Iowa lost to ISU and didn't fall short of expectations.

It is just one game, and non-conference at that, but a loss to ISU generally is not good in terms of outlook for the rest of the season.
