I was listening to SiriusXM channel 84 this morning where Rick Neuheisel had an idea on scheduling that I would love to see. He proposed each league in the power 5 go to a 9 game schedule and the each P5 school would have 2 non-conference games against other P5 leagues based on conference placement the year before. They would have one game at home and one away. This would enhance the regular season and force the top teams to play each other in advance of the CFP.

It would amp things up between the P5 leagues and allow one non-con game at the discretion of each school to get an additional home game with a group of 5 or FCS team.

Thoughts on how others would see this?

Any scheduling idea which requires the conferences to work in lockstep is simply a pipedream.

About as likely as all the conferences breaking up and having a fantasy-esque drafting of the teams.

No way the sec drops 3 patsies to play a 9 game conference schedule. A better rule is NO FCS schools after week #3.

Sounds great in a radio booth from a fan's perspective, but never going to happen.

As far as "weighted scheduling" goes, I really wish the B1G would have gone with it. It would have been fully and logistically possible for the B1G to have made cross-division matchups 2 rotating games plus 1 game based on the previous season's standings, instead of being locked in with one opponent for 6 straight years. I was really hoping this would be announced with the next round of B1G scheduling; instead, we will be getting a whole lotta Rutgers......

The captain would run like hell if forced to do this...like he’d just come across the boogieman

I don’t see why. We would be matched up with two comparable teams from other leagues and it would be the same for all our conference foes as well.

Smaller schools entire athletic departments are funded by getting paid to play at the P5 schools. It would be great for the P5 but would suck for a ton of schools in multiple sports.
