Internal DHS data reveals the 45+ U.S. cities that hundreds of thousands of migrants have flown into US

Taking something from the right, maybe Elon should shutup and build cars.

Actually I don’t think that because we should all be able to have a voice. I just get annoyed on how much the right bashes celebrities for giving opinions they don’t like but loves on the ones that agree with them.

And no concern for the topic at hand I see.

Why do democrats want this? It makes no sense at all

So...the right is now a party of no immigration. Because this program has been explained ad naseum. The GOP and rights on this board hedge their opinion with "I'm in favor of legal immigration," and then when legal immigration and asylum seekers cross their path, they appear to be against.

14% of applicants receive asylum. The other 86% are now being told to “come back in 8 years for your immigration hearing. In the mean time have families and anchor yourself and another generation here with zero chance of being removed.”

They claim they left their country due to violence or whatever else. Then travel through 5 countries that would have gotten them out of harms way. And the Dems just play stupid to all of this. The things Trump had in to stem this shit was immediately overturned by executive order and has ended up with us in this situation.

Zero fvcks given by the Dems in protecting our country and our borders…and college campuses.

I would disagree with your assertion of "zero ****s" Clearly, you argue from a position of a nativists...and that is fine. I presume your bias does not affect your interaction with students from developing nations (assuming you still are teaching and not just a third assistant football coach in Florida).

We have asylum laws that need to be enforced. Part of that enforcement is that a person seeking asylum has due process rights. Unfortunately, there are not enough asylum judges or lawyers to handle all the cases in a time period that you would find acceptable. There was a bill that would increase that funding, but Trump instructed the House to kill the bill. Therefore, the delay in obtaining a hearing date continues.

Then you suggest that Trump's policy (which is the MPP or colloquially referred to as "remain in Mexico") was a saving grace, which was overturned by Biden's EO. The program initiated at the end of January 2019 and sent approximately 125,000 asylum to Mexico. Biden's EO did reverse MPP and allowed approximately 25,000 asylum seekers to enter. But, as you probably not aware, Biden's EO was enjoined in August of 2021. In December of 2021, the Biden administration negotiated with Mexico to reinstitute MPP with the negotiated conditions. After further judicial review, the plan was stopped in February 2023 after Mexico declined to accept the asylum seekers.

so...you big complaint against Biden is an EO that was effective for a little over a year. the other EO dealt with reviewing policy and reuniting separated families.

Again, if America wants to change the American creed and discontinue refugees and immigration from developing nations, the law needs to be changed. there a change in the law, but the guy you are going to vote for (Trump) told the House to kill it....but you want to talk about an EO that lasted a year.

Why didn't you call your GOP Representative to vote in favor of the immigration bill, then?

That was going to provide adequate resources for handling asylum claims, and deporting people who did not meet requirements.

I have a Democrat representative and I was all for them passing that bill. The GOP is awful on the issue as well. However they didn’t aggressively overturn things simply because “Orange man bad” to end us up in the current situation. And they damned sure didn’t say “when I’m president surge the border” hopping that this would happen.

Then why are you bashing Biden over it, when he tried to fix it?

Moderate conservatives were fully in support of it; only Trump and the MAGAs quashed it.
Are you a MAGA, here, or not?

WTF does this even mean?

Key conservatives supported that bill. It would have been a landmark change for our immigration system, providing resourcing where there currently is none.

You keep skipping over the 13 EOs Biden ordered when he got into office that completely fvcked the situation at the border…again…causing the major influx to begin with. Biden’s dumb actions are a major cause of the need for the bill in the first place.

You have no idea what you're babbling about.

Covid is over. MOST of the border limitations were related to Covid. And had to be removed once the pandemic was formally declared over.

the border bill ELIMINATED THE NEED for more EO, dipshit.

Be specific here....which one of the 13 EOs completely ****ed up the situation. Was it the EO from 2/2/2021 Task force for Reuniting Families? Or possible the 1/25/2021 institution of Covid travel restrictions? Or possibly the 1/20/2021 memo reinstituting the deferred enforced departure for Liberians. No, it must be the 2/2/2021 Restoring Faith in our Immigration System and Strengthening Integration

During his first 364 days as president, Biden took 296 executive actions on immigration—as compared to 86 during Trump's first year and 472 during the entire Trump presidency, analysts Muzaffar Chishti and Jessica Bolter write in a new article for MPI’s online journal, the Migration Information Source. Of Biden’s 296 immigration actions, 89 have reversed or started to undo Trump policies, making clear the administration is doing more than unraveling his predecessor’s policies.

The Biden administration’s actions cover a wide range of issues—greatly narrowing the number of unauthorized immigrants vulnerable to arrest, detention and removal; lifting some barriers to U.S. entry and to accessing immigration benefits; and raising the refugee resettlement ceiling to 125,000.

Reverses the Trump policy banning refugees from key regions and enables flights from those regions to begin within days. Declares that the 15,000 annual refugee cap set by Trump will be raised to a number to be determined by May 15.

Probably because every time it is brought up that Republicans are the people who have repeatedly stood in the way of immigration reform the argument is completely ignored by the right. It's impossible to have a serious debate with people who don't actually want to solve the problem they are complaining about.
