I am trying to let that sink in on me. Maybe our expectations were too high and we bought the hype, but certainly disappointing considering what we thought could be.

I think that means this isn't the best team in 30-40 years

In thirty years, maybe. But not forty. No way. The BJ, Marble, Horton teams were better.
Brunner and Horner team was better besides the NCAA result. Guess this years result is still out there.
Than the late 80s teams???? F*** no.
No, than this years team.

Tonight was actually pretty encouraging.
Everybody except Garza played well enough to win.
If Fran would have given up on the zone in December Iowa probably only has 3 or 4 losses in the best conference in college basketball in years.

Maybe not even best of last 15. This team very 06 like although I doubt they go 1 and done but nobody was expecting it back then eitherI think that means this isn't the best team in 30-40 years

Point guard is a problem. Touissant is not the answer. He turns it over to much. Plays out of control. Iowa clearly needs a true point. One that can hit the three but also can drive, dish, score and defend. Bohanan is not it. He’s a shooting 2 guard. Always has been always will be.
Weezy got dominated...couldn't guard wagner or livers and couldn't score on them.
Garza did have about the worst game of his career.
Fredrick probably the most talented guard but he won't hunt his shot.
This iowa team doesn't have the athletes to play lock down defense and the offense relies on Garza
low post game to open up 3pt shots. Iowa guards had to manufacture shots on their own
because Garza couldn't score.
I think they will lose at OSU, so that is 7 b1G losses....Iowa is a good team, not great.

The big point you made was about Weiskamp. Guys like Wagner and Livers are why Weiskamp won't play in the NBA. He's just not on their level. Doesn't mean he's bad. He's just not an NBA player. Very few are. Michigan's got three future NBA players on it's roster, three guys who might start in the NBA. Iowa has an NBA bench player and a bunch of good college basketball role players.
You're right. Which is too bad, because this team could be a legitimate Top 5 team with a point guard. Fran has just never been able to land a difference maker at point.
I know Ulis didn't do well, but I think that is partly on Fran for keeping him on bench most of the season.
Ulis has potential to be good. JoeT unfortunately doesn't have the ball handling/shooting to be a great pg. Sadly, that Curbello PG out of NY that Illinois got is going to be a pain in azz going forward.
Got to hand it to Michigan coach. He got two impact transfers and brought in Dickinson. Michigan is the real deal.
If Iowa had gotten the Michigan PG ast transfer, maybe the game would have been competitive. Next year Michigan brings in some 5 star talent...Iowa's time will have passed with Garza moving on, back to .500 B1G ball or worse.
Michigan has by far the best wing combo in the country. No one else is even in the convo.
I thought Joe played better than I expected.
Joe is an advantage against almost every other team besides Michigan.
His floater in the lane didn’t drop, but those are the kinds of looks that we need that our other guards don’t get us, Fredrick aside, who also had a similar shot tonightI know Ulis didn't do well, but I think that is partly on Fran for keeping him on bench most of the season.

We average one decent team every ten years. No national contender since ‘86-‘87. Basically the program has been a shit show for 3+ decades.
No. They haven't had the athletes to be elite but other than lickliter and the pierre pierce era of alford it hasn't been close to a "shit show". Stop being dramatic. Michigan didn't dance from 98-09, that's a shit showWe average one decent team every ten years. No national contender since ‘86-‘87. Basically the program has been a shit show for 3+ decades.

Oh, definitely. But there are other NBA-quality wings in college this year. Kispert and Johnson stick out, too. Stanford's got a freshman, Florida's got a wing, and there are others in the mix. But Joe is very good, just not as good scoring off the dribble as guys like Wagner or Johnson.
I mean a lot of people saw this coming.....I am trying to let that sink in on me. Maybe our expectations were too high and we bought the hype, but certainly disappointing considering what we thought could be.

We’re basically a swim team on hardwood.Damn, that is depressing, but not bad for a program that puts out a swim team most years. 😉
I would say Iowa bball gives me all the same feels as the football program:A shit show? No. A shit show was Lick ball. Iowa is not elite, that's for sure. But shit show? C'mon.
