This comment doesn't necessarily compute. This year we essentially have 6 different guys who receive reps on the interior DL ... that seems to be the opposite of not being "deep." It's true that we're not deep at the position in terms of having beefy guys .... however, one of Iowa's best DL's was the '04 DL ... and neither Babs nor Luebke were "big" guys.

BS to compare those figures. Ohio State has been so far ahead in their 1st 2 games that they had a chance to play basically everybody and that included 16 DL which included 2 walk-ons against Oregon State. Let that sink in.....16 DLs. Yep, Iowa has the premier DL around. Good Lord !
Again. Have played no one. The fact we are talking about this speaks to the ultra internal nature of the fan base
I know it's tough to accept. I know you think that it makes no sense, but there is only one conclusion.
Ohio State has the worst DL in the entire country. Nick Bosa's arms are the signs of peanuts. Urban's focus on his program's key core values has shifted his focus from the defense that really matters. Ohio State's players must have the stamina of a virgin if they really need 16 guys on the DL to play. It's a shame really.
Harbaugh must be licking his chops. They finally might be able to keep their QB clean against such a pedestrian opponent.
I'm sure Ohio State would argue that, and a good argument it would be.
All I know is that we have a DAMN GOOD DL.
So far our defense is doing a great job but to say we have one of the best is laughable this early lets get a few conference games in and truly see what they can do.

Stats don't mean everything. When we played UNI at home, the Buckeyes were playing a damn good ranked team on the road.
Ohio State has the second best line in the country, right behind Clemson.
Another thing is how the D game-plans against different opponents. I've seen on more than a few occasions where the Hawks don't get any sacks against a perceived "easy" opponent .... but then completely harass the QB of a perceived traditional power. Part of that is maybe how we scheme against the opponent ... another factor could be that it is easier to "get up" for a bigger game.

You beat me to it, Clemson's d-line is really good. Alabama is a close second. If we had a little more beef inside I would agree. We have really good talent on the edge.I like our guys. A lot. But, as far as being the best in college football, Clemson might take exception. Four probable first round draft picks there.
