Iowa 12-7 (3-5) Rest of the way predictions

NET down to 52 after the 0-2 California disgrace.

Fing pathetic we're questioning if Iowa can win 5 out of 13.
It's looking more likely than not that they lose every away game.
It also seems unlikely they win every home game given who's left on the schedule.
I think they'll get those 5, but it's not a certainty.

Here is my prediction on how the remaining 24 regular season games shake out....

Last year I predicted 15-16 (7-13) and they finished at 18-13 (10-10)

Minnesota W
Penn State L
At Ohio State L
Purdue L
Wisconsin L
At Rutgers W
At Maryland L
Oregon L
Washington W
At Illinois L
At Northwestern W
Michigan State L
At Nebraska L

4-9 the rest of the way. Finish 16-15, 7-13.

Ceiling mark is 6-7, which would put them at 18-13 again, and 9-11. Floor is 3-10, which would see them fall to 15-16, 6-14.

Flip Penn St and Rutgers and I’m with you.

5-8 is the best its likely going to get the rest of the way.

Win all home dates aside from Wisconsin and MSU, and lose all the roadies.

Worst it could get is 2-11. Only so many Minnesota and Washington home dates allowed per season.

I actually missed the ISU game, but from what I read we were beating them for 35 minutes. That also is a head scratcher. (Realize we lost but…)
Yeah, that was the point we all should have seen the writing on the wall.

Only game before this just concluded LA trip that I felt like Iowa had no chance in was the @WISC game.

Now? Hawks are actually very likely much closer to having a losing record currently than believed previously. [IE, struggled a bunch vs Washington St, needed Dix' buzzer beater to win vs NW, etc]

I am ready to cash in our chips and start over. I am not afraid, the Lick years were horrid but with the portal now, turnarounds should be faster. If you would have said we would have zero sweet 16’s post alfraud I would have guessed we went through quite a few coaches.

I haven't made the slightest effort to watch most of an entire NCAA Tourney - past the first 2 rounds (or is it 3, now?) - in at least 2 decades.

Once the Hawks are out, I pretty much tap out and maybe catch bits and pieces of games the rest of said tourney. If the Hawks aren't good enough to be invited at all? Might watch a bit of a couple games of the opening weekend, but couldn't give a shit about any of that kind of tourney really.

Same goes for Championship Weeks. If Iowa is still alive, I'll pay attention to the BTT and other 'bubble teams' games, but after the Hawks are eliminated I move on until the Selection Show on that Sunday evening.

It's actually the opposite for me.
The NCAA tourney is the best sports event of the year. I love it despite Iowa's performance in it for the past quarter century. Watch as many NCAA tourney games as I can.
Frankly, I consider it the entire point of D1 college basketball.
This is the primary reason why I've been done with Fran for a while. His dismal record in the tourney should have been the reason for his departure a while back.

Wish I could feel that way. But if the Hawks aren't involved, my interest isn't either.

Exactly why I can't take Iowa basketball seriously - A tournament win or three every once in a while isn't on our list of expectations.

No prediction, but I am definitely a lot less positive after watching some of the worst Iowa basketball under Fran this past week. If Iowa doesn't win the next 2 against Minny and PSU at home, I now think there is a chance we won't get into the BTT. There is getting beat and there is being humiliated.

I haven't spent time on the board. What is the word on Payton's injury? We wanted to see Traore get more time, but a much different version than we have seen so far.

Turnarounds can actually happen in just 1 year, especially in basketball.

QC, you have them going winless on the road the rest of the way. That's been my thought as well since last month.
But, if you had to pick, which road contest is the most likely win. jnw? Only because they're the worst team left on the schedule that's a road game. ru? Because they have been massive underperformers on the season to date. tosu? Not nearly as significant as ru, but also underperformers and very erratic game to game.
